So.....is Far Cry 4 GOTY2014 by default at this point?

Its the best looking (as in the most interesting looking ) game to come out this year among this sea of floppity flops. Every damn other game this year that would be its competition flopped. Floppity flops that came and went: Titanfall, Infamous: Second Son, WatchDogs, Destiny, etc....

What else coming out this year has potential for GOTY? Only thing I can think of is Smash Bros.

FC3 ok, I'll give you but Watchdogs man....

I was unaware Titanfall and InFamous were floppy games.

I'd like FC 4 to escape Ubi's overdone open world tropes (repetitive pointless side quests, a map littered with collectibles, climbing a thing to unlock the map and so on).

... Open world + FPS, two of the most overused genres and features in this industry for the past 5 years.. I hope not.. FPS's really haven't moved anywhere really since maybe Crysis 1.. This better not be GOTY from what I have seen of those trailers..

Smash Bros. 4

It's not a blockbuster year for games but Divinity and Dark Souls 2 are the major games to get 9s so unless something else substantial comes out I assume it will be Divinity.

I hope not, especially with how their shafting pc gamers.

AC Unity is looking to be the best AC yet. Also Dark Souls 2 is winning it.

Dark Souls II and Divinity: Original Sin are still in the running by a fair bit. And there is still Smash Bros.

If Destiny can flop, so can anything.

Divinity will take it. I'm almost sure of it.

GOTY? I dont see any games this year that I can say are even GOTY worthy.

This year just had flops and decent games, nothing great this year.

Far Cry will be good and I can't wait for it but I'm still going with Dark Souls 2.

I doubt it. Wish people would stop being so fucking negative about this year though, it's been a standard year and there's plenty of great games coming out right now and already released.

Comparing it to last year of course it's going to look bad, that was the last year of a generation so everyone was rushing out massive games or they'd been delayed from 2012 so you ended up with three or four games that could have won GOTY any other time.

All that's happened this year is a couple of overly hyped blockbuster games were kind of shitty, anyone who focuses just on those and ignores the other great releases around them is just being stupid.
