So are PS4 and 720 coming next year?

Personally I don't think so. Not with MGS GZ, GOW, The Last of Us, GTA V, Dragon Age 3 and Gears realeasing late next year or possibly later. I would expect one or two major releases in the last year of a console cycle but not all these heavy hitters.

You think MS and Sony will leave the market open to WiiU for two years? Even though their current consoles can still compete in performance to some degree, they can have both PS3/360 and their successors on the market, at the same time. That could lead to considerable problems for WiiU, because PS3/360 will share its multiplats, while PS4/720/PC will nave multiplats of their own.

The 720 is releasing holdiay next year, it will be revealed E3. I have seen a list my friend at GameStop has shown me, the launch title for the next Xbox is called Whore of the Orient.

I will try to get the list and post it on here so you can see it, I don't expect people to take my word alone for it. However if you look at next year, you see nothing for later 2013 for 360. Everything, including multiplats, are all early releases in 2013 for 360. This is because devs know that the 720 is releasing later that year.

Gears Judgment is the final 360 exclusive. I don't know anything about PS4, it was not on the list. However Sony said they do not are about being 1st, they only care about being the most powerful and having the best games. So PS4 will probably launch later and Sony will make it much more powerful than the 720.

Personally I am going to wait for the PS4. The PS3 has more than enough great games coming out this year and next year to hold me over until the PS4, whenever it launches.

Xboxes' exclusives completely dry up next year, and MS will want to get the jump on Sony, and also try to claw back some of the marketshare the Wii U will have inevitably chewed up. So no, nothing solid, but it's very, very likely..

Can't speak for the PS3 but the 360 was formally announced only a few months before it's release.

Erm, i'm guesstimating that they'll announce the consoles next year. That's the point of the thread.

I think Microsoft will definitely have the next Xbox out by holiday 2013. Sony is a bit more unclear. I think they either launch around the same time as Microsoft, or they will launch early 2014 (I'm leaning towards this).

well ms is launching smart glass and sony is launching wonderbook , i see no need for them to rush consoles to the market wii u was announced in 2010 we are just now getting it in 2012, so going by that , chances are a late 2013 early 2014 seams more reasonable , then early to mid next year , and even then dont expect cheap systems going by ms's stubberness with the 360 price , 720 could very well retail for 500 dollars and ps4 who knows

but the chances are slim for a 2013 launch , we know next to nothing of these there isnt even a officail statment that suggest its coming , they both are firm that they will wait a few years

Microsoft has been experiencing supply shortages with some of the chips it's going to use on the new console. Factories aren't able to meet demand due to some issues.

So I wouldn't be suprised if MS doesn't ahve a console 2013. PS4 is deifnitely not coming 2013 either.

I thikn both consoles will be announed at e3 next year and I predict MS will launch summer of 2014 with Ps4 coming out holiday 2014/early 2015.

MS might release the successor, but Sony and the PS3 slim+ probably means Sony wants to milk the PS3 for another year.

I normally never agree with you but I can see this being very likely. MS will announce it at next E3 if not before then (seen as we all already know) and it will release around a holiday time to increase sales

what i'm not getting is the lack of hype for the consoles. if they are releasing it in holiday 2013, then they are giving themselves more than one year to hype their console up? i remember ps3/360 launch had at least a year/2 year hype before the console came out. so if they announce in 2013, i don't think it would be weird....

with that said, i don't mind if they release 2014....january 2014 would be perfect for me....but they would never release out of holiday season

Sony may be in a bad financial situation, but they'll manage another launch, only it won't be handled like the PS3. Instead of going for expensive parts and selling units at a loss, they'll go for less powerful and inexpensive hardware, which will allow them to be profitable per unit sold...

I just don't see any of the "big three" dropping out of the console market next gen...

I don't think it's smart business to launch a new console next year. Both MS and Sony are making money on their consoles, let the devs hone their craft on this gen, so we don't hear about learning curves next. If they are smart, the next gen machines will be fairly simple to use so the devs can hit the ground running. It will all lead to the same point, we don't need next gen consoles, we need next gen games. If we don't see that at launch, people will put their wallets away.

No, with so many big name games getting released in 2013 there is little to no chance of the PS4 and Next Xbox coming out next year. Holiday 2014 is the best bet.

God of War 2 was released after the PS 3 launched for one so all these games releasing means nothing. 720 will most likely launch in 2013. Epic isnt deveolping Gears Judgement, most likely working on a next gen Gears. Backwards compatiblilty is very likely with 1080p, also wouldnt be surprised if they allowed cross gen mp for games like COD. With the 720 you'll probably be able to play all recent 360 releases at higher res and there will also be exclusive titles as well.

Maybe. I wouldn't be surprised if MS and Sony are waiting to see how well the Wii U will perform and determine whether they should launch in 2013 or 2014.
