So, if you want a copy of Too Human, get it now, because it's gonna be scarce soon.

This would suck if they actually made good games

Well, I'm sure a place like Amazon has some unsold copies that are just sitting around somewhere, as does some Wal-Mart, a GameStop, etc. Point is, it's gonna get rare very quickly, and very soon.

Well then, time to find me a copy of X-Men: Destiny.

Silicon Knights games are finally going to where they belong: the trash.

Taking those games off the shelf will help to make for a better world for us all. SK should be commended for their humanitarian efforts.

I fully agree.

Bad horror game, middling action-adventure. At least the first 1/3 of it was, but I think Wolpaw's Law applies there.

They would have already but they Canada bailed them out once, and Nintendo is/was a silent partner. Even when they were making MS games.

Technically, once a place like GameStop, WalMart, etc buy the copy of the game.. it's sold. As in, GameStop, WalMart, etc are the rightful owners to it.

So, where are they going to put all the copies of Too Human ? they will need a pit bigger than the one used for ET.

So it's just unshipped copies then?

Article didn't really explain exactly why does SK have to do this IE what was this whole suit about?

I think that's why they said they have to RECALL them. As in buy the shippied copies back from retailers and destroy them, not just what (if anything) they have in their own stockpiles.

I'm not too familiar with this company, but sounds like they are toast.

#24 Posted by WilliamRLBaker (28344 posts) -

I personally like too human.

ill make sure to hold onto my copy.

I've a feeling that all 5 of the remaining Silicon Knights staff will be fine, I mean they must be masters of writing grant proposals given all the money they've mooched from the Canadian government and there's always room in the working world for people like that.

I believe Silicon Knights took Epic to court over Unreal Engine 3 support. SK lost, and Epic trolled them by counter-suiting. Moral of the story: bite your tongue if you can. Don't be quick to blame everyone else if you're criticized for what you do.

I wonder if Epic had a better army of lawyers and Dyack was actually on to something but was overruled or just Silicon Knights went apesh*t and butthurt over something without thinking about the consequences properly...

If they didn't focus so much on a title for 10 years and trying to sue Epic, they wouldn't be in this mess. I don't even think Nintendo will buy them out now.

It's their own fault, they tried their hand at being Apple and suing to get more money and it backfired.

Yeah they are Nintendo still owns some stock in SK. That is where Harlock got that Nintendo is/was a silent partner.

SK were still allowed to make games for other systems just that Nintendo kept stock in Silicon Knights when their two game contract ended.

well let's assume ED is amazing. ED is literally the only game they made that is amazing in the past decade. no, twin snakes doesn't count, because the game itself was already made, they just gave it a visual revamp. so i'd say it's more a strike of luck than a quality dev falling to mediocrity.

Pretty much.

One good game no matter how good can't save a whole company whose games for the most part have been mediocre.

If you start a fight and consequently get the crap kicked out of you, you can't really moan that the other guy is a thug. Don't blame Epic for fighting back against a law suite from Dyack because his company made a game that sucked.

No one else had many complaints about UE3. I mean, it's the most widely used engine of the generation, so Epic must be doing great. I'm guessing it was the latter. Actually wish Epic didn't counter-sue just to show them up. SK have had a bad roll this generation, and this might just be the final nail in the coffin.

Apparently, SK currently consists of david, his wife and few other people. Pretty much a shell of a company that wants to give off the illusion of productivity, so they continue to receive government funding.
#49 Posted by getyeryayasout (7082 posts) -

It's too bad, but Epic had to make an example of SK to let other companies know that it will cost greatly to get litigious with Epic. The pimp-hand is strong with Epic.
