Poll Should the whole Xbox leadership group be fired or Gamepass so good you forgive and supporteverything they doing? (44 votes)

Heads must roll! Fire everyone at the top! 52%
Xbox leadership is good and the recent events is just a restructure. 34%
Xbox leadership is bad but I want to see short term vision (~ 6 month from now) 14%
No Caption Provided

Idk I just want to make use of this ironic tweet by Xbox execs. I think they learn from Peter Molyneux school of telling bullshit to farm engagements.

Stocks must always go up. Until this mindset changes the industry is never going to change.

Gamepass subs have plateaued, and games are still measured on how well they sell. These two things can not exist together. So what can you do? Well cutting studios is the easiest thing, so that's what companies do.

It's stupid really, there's plenty of examples of Sub services plateauing but for some reason they all think, MS included, they will grow to 100 million subs plus more and never stop growing.

Stocks can only go up

and yet still managed to get more exclusives in 2024 so far. even sunset arizona 2 on vr is not on xbox. don't worry the end of 2024 will be here soon enough for xbox players. don't think hellblade 2 is going to do well. xbox players don't like single player story driven games. if it does then xbox players are hypocrites.

Are gamers responsible for the allowing the dark side of business practices to exist? Also, what can gamers do to remove the Xbox leadership as most are not shareholders in Microsoft or sit on its boards?

All these tweets just showcase how companies lie to us constantly.

"We are listening to the players"

If someone tells you something and you are doubtful what they say: fact check.

If a company tells you something: assume it is a lie

We gotta adjust to the world we live in today and I'm taking the necessary steps.

I don't understand what Phil is doing now? I think he did ok during mid-season of Xbox One, but as of right now, not a good look for him.

The only good thing I can say is thank you Phil for porting MS games on PC and continue doing so from this point out. And that's all the thanks I can give him on that.

Phil is the sockpuppet, other people are in control. CFO and Nadalla probably pulled the plug and said: enough, you're gonna cut these costs, or we're gonna close Bethesda as a whole.

Well to be fair, Gears wasn't considered a 1st party game until the newly formed Xbox studio, The Coalition, took over the franchise with Gears 4 and 5. :P

I'm not sure if any problem is with Xbox leadership but rather how the higher ups at MS and investor board restrict and influence Xbox. As a gamer I would say maybe Xbox should be spun off. As a company MS probably thinks they can exploit Xbox for their greater goals and who cares about the collateral damage.

Xbox has been a fight to justify what they want to do from the very beginning and it seems like they have had to keep fighting to go in the direction they want to.

But at this point it seems MS is going all in on whatever they are trying to do.

The Spencer era has managed a world’s tour of mileage for not being Don Mattrick.

Change should have happened years ago. Spencer was in the room for all the missteps of Xbox One, announced the $499 price, and floundered as Xbox bounced around on what to do about garnering AAA talent at their studios.

Long overdue.

The idea that Xbox was gaming's white knight was always laughable; they have an obligation to Microsoft's leadership team and shareholders. Nadella didn't hand Phil Spencer a $80B bag to make gamers feel warm in the inside.

The frustrating part in all of this is that Xbox seems to need to explain their strategy every single year and, to be brutally honest, there's no freaking way Xbox shifts strategies that often. They've been lying to people's faces for goodwill for years and the truth is they've always been in it to make money and strengthen Microsoft and not "Xbox gamers".

As the shit show continues, Gamepass keeps being a great service that delivers great games at great value.

But that's just me, someone who just wants to play games and doesn't care at all at the the outrage culture surrounding their brand.

That being said. Humans are gregarious and the continuous failures on execution and communications will no doubt continue to have a negative impact on brand perception, and ultimately on subscription numbers.

If I were Phil I would most probably resign by now. Seems to me like MS keeps him as a shit eating machine they have no respect for. Or maybe he's just a psychopath too.

Is it just System Wars that cares about corporate politics as I doubt most gamers outside this forum ever care about it? I feel that most gamers play Xbox games and never heard of Phil Spencer or other Xbox/Microsoft figures unlike people posting in System Wars.

It is just System Wars and other outlets that participate in the same behavior. Too often folks on this board and boards like this confuse their world view as the view of gamers as a whole or a reflection of the industry.

To me it seems like MS has been patient with the Xbox division and giving them a lot of money. But their vision seems off to me 🤷🏻‍♂️.

If this was a team in the Premier league, the coach would have been sacked years ago.

The sub service is great, gamepass is awesome and I will continue to use it. But, they need to get rid of day one, and ensure they bring back "value" to games that they release, in the eyes of customers.

There's been nothing but exclusive games to play for PS5 lately. But maybe Sony should spend more time fucking themselves over by buying publishers and closing their studios with projects that never come to fruition or end up subpar. Great strategy 🙄

That tweet is from just a year ago, but somehow feels like it is from generations ago. On topic, Phil Spencer is synonimous with Xbox right now, if they fire him they're dooming the brand, but that doesn't mean that keeping him will make the brand the success they're aiming to.

As I read through all these meme and rage bait post on twitter, I realized xbox execs comes out with the most bullshit quotes to rally their fanbase. It creates a "us against them" situation which does work wonders as underdogs but when backfired it as expected a toxic (and for me, hilarious we seen this from miles away) environment among fans.

That's an interesting point of view. I feel like people gave Phil Spencer a pass, years ago, because he was rebuilding the Xbox brand from what Don Mattrick did. Though people started to wake up when they realized that he's had years to rebuild the brand, and still barely moved a needle.

I started calling for his head when he announced all Xbox games would release day 1 on PC as I saw the writing on the wall what this guy was all about. Phil is a quitter who's not willing to compete, you don't need a person who isn't going to fight for the brand that employs him.

He's two faced, says one thing in public and another behind closed doors. I mean look at all his tweets then look at his actions. He's been in charge for like a decade and Xbox has got worse under his tenure.

As for people giving him a free pass, they still are just look at some of the posts in this very thread.
