No. Nintendo should risk with NX - success or bankrupt 51%
Apple will benefit the most out of any company if they bought Nintendo. Making Nintendo games Exclusive to the iPhone and iPad will do a lot for their hardware push and will allow Apple to enter the console space easily and have their eco system in the living room. Of course this is my opinion and I'm not a qualify finacial advisior or anything.
Also, 20 billion is probably nothing for Apple to spend their money on.
@Pedro: games and profit Sony psn earned more money than Nintendo last 6 years. Domination would be best for Sony. Dont ask such stupid questions. This is capitalism.

I think your suggestion is rather stupid. Neither of the companies listed would benefit from purchasing Nintendo at this moment. That is called common sense.
IF people want to play Mario,Zelda,Donkey Kong,Mario Kart,Smash Bros and a few other select titles they WILL ALWAYS BUY NINTENDO CONSOLES and HANDHELDS...ALWAYS..NIN could just put those few games out every year and make millions of $$$$$
Nintendo's not for sale, if anything it'd be an exclusive partnership. They'd want the next Pokemon to be available only to the iPad/iPhones and Apple TV devices and such. Nintendo, worse comes to worse, can always move to tablets and smartphone market on their own, they wouldn't need to partner to ditch traditional gaming market. If they partnered with anybody for such a move, it'd be a third party developers like DeNA who make smartphone and tablet games. Word is though, I hear Nintendo only sees 10% of those Pokemon Go revenues, curious what the split is on that.
No, Apple buying Nintendo would be a disaster. They are already making the NX so we will have to see how that goes before anyone even considers Nintendo leaving the console space.
Oh goodness no. We don't need new Nintendo consoles every year with virtually no change, except price. In all seriousness though Nintendo has tons of money. They aren't going anywhere, and I highly doubt they want Tim Cook ruining their company. Has Apple done anything original since Steve Jobs died?
I don't know how good it would be for the overall industry if another company bought Nintendo. That's debatable though; it really depends who the buyer is.
That said, Nintendo isn't at risk of bankruptcy anytime soon. As of the most recent fiscal year, they have around $9bn USD in assets, including just over $5bn USD in cash reserves.
So they still have an incredibly large war chest with which to experiment with new ideas and drive longer term strategy. I think they will be fine. :-)
Has Apple done anything original since Steve Jobs died?
Its still making everyone else in the mobile space fight for scraps for almost 10 years now. Thats original.
Pretty sure Samsung has been kicking the crap out of them for some time now.
Only since the launch of the iPhone 6s, which was less than a year ago. Until then, Apple's dominance in the mobile space was frankly frightening, especially in terms of revenues and profits generated (and not just in terms of the hardware).
I wish I could make a poll thread that states "Should @FreedomFreeLife stop making threads in System Wars" and everyone would vote yes, but that would be against the GS ToS.
So, as I'm stating, this is another terrible thread and we all know that the TC hates Nintendo.
Also, as for the topic, NO! Apple would want to overpriced their hardware and over price the software.

Hmm I'm pretty sure that Samsung was ahead of Apple from like 2011-2014. Then Apple pulled back in the lead (barely) after the S6 sort of bombed (no SD card and no removable battery and all). Then Samsung took over the lead again last year. Still Samsung has been kicking Apple's butt for some time now minus the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015.
Anyway it still doesn't really change the fact that Apple hasn't really innovated much if at all since Jobs passed control to Cook. It's still just the same iPhone with a little bit bigger screen, a little bit faster processor, and a little bit better camera every year. Remember when Apple came out with the iMac, the iPod, the iPhone, the iPad, Apple TV...etc? Sort of eclipses what Cook and company have came up with since Steve's passing. That's my point. The current Apple should leave Nintendo alone. They are on autopilot, and luckily they have rabidly devoted fans who still stand inline for a slightly improved new version of the same phone year after year. There is virtually no difference between the iPhone 6 Plus and the iPhone 6S Plus that my wife just traded it for. Yeah she's one of those people. Hell other than the size there is no real difference between my iPhone 6 and her 6S Plus.
@GoldenElementXL: Errr no its not. Sony is worth over 35 billion in market cap value.
Your link was from 2013.
Net worth and Market cap are 2 different things. A diverse company like Sony should have a higher market cap. However, Nintendo is close to Sony in market cap as well these days...
Also I didn't provide a link... I offered a Google snapshot. Narrow the search results and my point still stands...

Net worth is usually worth more then market cap value because it account's for assets. However your point was is that Nintendo was worth more then all of Sony and that is absolutely false. Sony has nearly doubled in value since that screenshot you took was relevant.
Nintendo is currently worth a little over 29 billion while Sony is a little over 40 billion.
You know that profit matters, right? Net worth Nintendo sees DOES NOT EXIST. It's number on paper but it's not money. Pokeman GO boosted Nintendo worth but it's already dropped and Pokeman GO is soon history just like 3D.
Only what matters is how much money company have right now and how much profit they earn. There are companies that earned only 1 million and yet net worth over 40 billion. But when this 1 million turns into loss then it's GG for company and cap will fall.

What does any of that even mean?
Nintendos net worth is higher than Sonys right now. And that's a video game company vs a company involved in a dozen different markets.
Source: Type "Sony net worth" in a google search bar like I did below.
DON'T COMPARE WORTH, COMPARE SALE !!!
Sony: $67.89 B
Nintendo: $4.4 B
NOW LET'S COMPARE BANK ACCOUNT HOW MUCH MONEY THEY BOTH HAVE LEFT: Sony: $142.21 B
Nintendo: $11.72 B
NET WORTH IS JUST LIKE HOW MUCH POUND CURRENTLY COST COMPARED WITH DOLLAR. NET WORTH CAN RISE AND FALL EVERY MIN, THIS IS MONEY THAT DON'T EXIST. YOU GET THAT MONEY WHEN YOU SELL YOUR NET WORTH.
Don't compare worth. Worth means nothing. Pokeman GO in reality gives minimum profit to Nintendo. Worth means same as popularity. When movie comes out, usually company worth rises up and up but when movie is no more shown in cinema, worth always falls.
Now i posted picture that shows how much money both companies have in reality(capital, money in bank). Sony in fact is richer than they were back in 2002 and their profit is huge. Nintendo however keeps losing money since from 2008. Wii is the only console that gave boost but they lost all their money with Wii U.
Then fail with nx would mean loss to mario too. 3rd party can prevent worst. But they cant go 3rd party after nx fail.
What crystal ball do you have that shows the NX will fail?
they trying to get mobile gamers on NX but nobody in 21 century gonna buy console to play mobile games on NX when people own mobile and can play games on mobile. DS had 70% market share 2009, now it's very low. But at the same time console gamers are not interested of mobile hardware and TV console gamers are not going to buy mobile hardware tv console. Handheld that can be played as TV console as well is not going to work.
Mobile gamers are going to buy handheld? Nope. Console TV gamers are going to buy handheld that can be played in TV? nope.

As difficult as that is to understand, I think I got it. My reply is simple to your inane rambling, however. You have this vision in your head that mobile gamers and console gamers are two different sets of people, when they are not. If I have the ability to play quality console style games, on the go, then I am for it. This divisive attitude you have is unhealthy for the gaming community, and needs to go away.
And SEGA has struggled because they make horrible games.

No you don't get it. When people buy TV console, they want powerful and good console. People don't want TV console with mobile hardware. Also Nintendo NX tries to be handheld and get mobile gamers but point is that mobile gamers are not going to buy handheld just to play Nintendo games when they could play on tablet or mobile. Nobody is going to buy handheld to buy handheld games when they have mobile and nobody is going to buy tv console that is handheld and not true tv console. I mean would you buy PC that can't run even old games? I don't think so.
You should understand that handheld is dead, it's mobile gaming that is going foward. Nintendo right now is trying NX handheld fight against mobiles and it gonna fail. But at the same time they try undepowered handheld fight against Sony and Microsoft and it's going to fail there too.
Too weak to be TV console, too outdated to survive against smartphone gaming.

And what in the world determines that they can't go third party 'after nx fail'?
Well Sega had hard times to go 3rd party after console fail. They could easily become big company but with fail they could become just medium company.
Sega Sammy are one of the largest gaming production companies in the world.

lol no
Samsung "dominates" the mid to low range phone market. You know, the one Apple doesnt participate in? The one that generates little profit.
Premium priced phones are the money makers and Apple has that shit ON LOCK! Everyone else is just racing to the bottom with cheaper phones and smaller profit margins. The fools race.
