While I don't completely disagree with you, that isn't in the soldiers power. I enlisted and served so I could have a GI Bill to go to college. My family doesn't have much money, and I wanted to go to engineering school for HVAC. This is how I paid for it.

As for nationalism, I have often said when addressing the point that Japanese take care of their own, I respect it. So I wouldn't have any problem with Syrian, Iranian or North Korean doing so. The military in America has the biggest budget in the world and it's entirely built around keeping the rich richer. They are mercenaries. There hasn't been a war worth fighting since ww2.
