I think it would be about dang time. As much as I love Link, I feel like Zelda would have a lot of narrative potential that doesn't revolve around another character. Link's whole world is Zelda in all the games we have played and so I think it's time to change that concept.

Actually, there are some games (e.g. Link's Awakening and Majora's Mask) where Zelda is briefly mentioned or not mentioned at all.
