I'll believe FF7 HD when I see it.
I bought the best available version of FFVII for $4.07 the other day.
Actually, many fans agree that the Steam version is the worst of the bunch.
Indeed, the music on the PC is all jacked up, though last I checked there was a modder working to restore the original soundtrack, so with work you might have something.
Most fans stick to the original PSX copy (or the PSN download) and play on console or use ePSXe with the original discs.
FFVII HD Remake? I laughed, Square doesn't have the intelligence for that.
Lightning Collection? The point I made above has just been proven.
Sadly this.
i would replay ffxiii trilogy.. i loved the original.. sure there were a couple of issues, but no game is perfect. i had a blast on xiii. and xiii-2. lightning returns was a bit dissapointing due to the time limit but it was still a fun game.
ffvii would be cool to go through again. i would prefer an entire rebuilt game, but i guess a hd remake of the game is the best were going to get.. would love ffviii to get some more attention. that was probably my all time favourite ff..
Just buy the PSN/Steam version if people want to play it so badly.
I got FF7 on my psp and despite the outdated graphics, the gameplay is still solid, soundtrack is one of the best of all time and the story is fantastic.
Take the leap and get it.
FF XIII was the worst in the series comfortably and instead of constantly returning to it they need to kill it off once and for all and bury it. If they are serious about recapturing Final Fantasy, that's what they need to do.

The original does hold up pretty well despite the rough edges. Even the visuals look fine for the most part. Granted, the character models look like trash, but the prerendered backgrounds still look great. There's something really special about the art in FF games.

The character models can be fixed on the PC version with mods from the Qhimm site.
Are they releasing the FFXIII collection so we can burn it with fire?
My thoughts exactly.
Square do not have the original source code for FF7... one of the games that they lost,
Ok, you have my curiosity. I never heard anything about this. Did SE lose a bunch of stuff at at some point? Any links I can read up on?
Not that I don't believe you, I just find this interesting and would like some more info.

I cant find the official news of FF7 ... but it turns out it was just the PC version of the game anyway. hence why the new remaster is so poor.
People it's not a FF7 remake but the compilation.
Cerberus
Crisis Core
Before Crisis
Advent Children
And all these games and the movie are awful. Some try to defend Crisis Core but that game feels more like some crappy anime with high production values that take too many cues from DBZ and The Matrix.

Yeah, I've seen them. They look very good. Probably wouldn't buy the PC version just for them. The original models, while horrendous, don't actually bother me that much.
@finalstar2007: I don't even see any reasoning for this. I could understand FFX & FFX2 HD because those games were actually pretty good. Doing a FF XIII collection is just a waste of time. Everyone wanted a remastered version of FF VII and SquareEnix refused to give it to us.

The XIII one isn't that hard to justify. They have HD assets already so it'd be a quick and inexpensive project compared to almost anything SE usually does. One that could both give devs experience with the new consoles and make a tidy profit.
IMO the VII project is definitely BS. I'm betting the XIII one is too, but I could fathom it.
