Rockstar: GTA V to be "our biggest open world game to date" + Airplane

During a recent Q&A session, Rockstar have claimed that the next entry in the Grand TheftAutoseries will be the "biggest open world game to date". Grand Theft Auto IV's open world was already impressive, so how much bigger than GTA V get?

Well, how about Rockstar go vertical? Lots of flying, missions involving flying, etc could work. Rockstar have claimed that it was not possible for them to integrate an interactive high definition airspace that matched the ground because it took too much work. Rockstar stated:

The city was simply too small for effective and enjoyable flying. It was the first time we made a high definition open world, and it was a massive amount of work to make something on that scale - we simply could not make an environment big enough for planes to work properly. Fear not, they are returning in what is our biggest open world game to date.Rockstar

This game can't come soon enough, if Rockstar's truly hinting at the scope of the game, then that means GTA V may be even bigger than Red Dead Redemption:shock:.

Still, this means that it's bigger than Red Dead Redemption which was huge! A GTA game the size of RDR ismuch more impressive than Just Cause 2.

What does GTA IV have to do with this? They said it's their biggest open world game to date, not that it's a little bigger than GTA IV.

After playing Max Payne 3, L.A Noire and Red Dead it seems they have really learned a lot since GTA4 which was still amazing (sunk 300 hours into it).

I didn't think RDR was that big, compared to other games. Rockstar prefer Quality over Quanitity though, and it shows, so it's worth it.

Anyway, like I said, Just Cause 2 wasn't really anything special, pretty sure it has a metascore somewhere in the low 80's.

Can't wait for GTAV though.

Im just glad air planes are back.

I don't even care about this game but Im going to purchase it just to tell my grandchildren I was there and experienced it day 1, lol.

Plus while Just Cause 2 is big, it doesn't really "feel" big like Red Dead Redemption does. You can zip from one corner to the next quickly and there seems to be lots of gigantic empty spaces used to make the effect, Red Dead Redemption trims down the amount of empty space but still gives you these amazing views and a huge distance between areas filled with unique landmarks and such.

I think GTA V striving to be big without going into copy/paste territory of Just Cause is fantastic.

I just hope its better then the last I really disliked thelast one I felt the whole fun thing was lacking from it

I don't care how big it is, I care about the content.

I just hope I find it fun. GTA4 was boring to me and the characters couldint even save it cause they put me to sleep as well.

Say what you will, the real reason imo is that they didn't want an unamerican man flying a plane in a new york setting (Liberty City, I know).

They put planes in GTA3 and GTA Vice City when they literally didn't do anything for the game. The plane in Vice City could only land on water for God's sake

I hope it has lot's of outdoor environments like RDR did. I know they showed a lot off in the trailer and they showed some natrual settings. I also hope the MP is like RDR, I love hanging out with friends on that and running around the world exploring and causing trouble, a free roam like that would be awesome.

GTA IV was the best in the series, and that is a damn near impossible feat in of itself.

GTA V is going to put all the previous entries in the franchise to shame.

Why all the gta 4 hate? Sure the game didn't live up to the outrageous amount of hype it got but it was FAR from being a bad game.Ghost120x

Well that's how it is on the internet unfortunately. Battlefield 3, Max Payne 3, etc. Great games, but whiners whine "oh noez, they changed too much, it SUCKS". GTA IV was an amazing game, the focus was more on polish and mechanics then sheer time sink missions and activities, which is honestly a plus from a series where you could tap A repeatedly on a treadmill as a gameplay feature in a game people use to argue how boring GTA IV was (ironic).

I have no doubt that this will be better than GTA IV, why? Because you can fly airplanes, thats the biggest reason why I didnt give GTA IV a 10 when I gave it a little review.

No, they whined because instead of building upon GTA San Andreas, they wen't back and built upon GTA III. It's as simple as that, some people love it, some people hated that. It's a matter of taste, and that's the real world. Now GTA V seems to be the true 'sequel' to SA, and maybe this will be the game that'll surpass it.
