Why? Wii U not out yet, and my latest Valve X Nintendo thread had them way closer together than the first time. I don;t think people on GS hate them as much as you think. Granted, I made the first poll in SW and the other in PGD but still.
8.0/10 I respect their descision to innovate rather than play the graphics king race and PC competetion thing but lacking third party and crappy online function and structure hurt them pretty bad. Luckily they have things down hard on the handheld end.
They are some of the few remaining developers completely focused on strong core gameplay and level design over flashy cinematics and visuals. They are also some of the very few that are focused on discovering what's fun and trying to deliver that to their audience.
I love that they try to distinguish themselves from their competitors, but I would like it if they actually got a better online system then the Wii and fix all the other problems with that console with their next console.
9/10 If they handled their consoles better, I would give them full marks. But there is no other company in the gaming industry that I like as much as Nintendo.
SEGA 9 Capcom 2 Namco 7.5 EA 0 Atlus 7.5 Nintendo 10 nobody puts out as many great titles on as consistent a basis as Nintendo. Xenoblade and Kid Icarus are my two most played games this year.
As for my score: 8/10 They are still my favorite first party console manufacturer and first party publisher/developer, but the damage done by Hiroshi Yamauchi is going to haunt them for the rest of their lives.
Their games are usually great, and the Wii was the only stationary console I didnt hate this gen. But their games are usually a bit on the easy side, and their writing department isnt always the best (though, their occational title's are superb in the writing department).
They have innovated (for better or worse) on the control side, while skimping on performance. Their 1st party title largely continue to be quality, but the third party support has been terrible. None of this looks to be changing with the next gen.
8/10 I like them I really do, but this generation has been full of dissapointment. Not looking so great for the Wii U in terms of games I will want to play. But hell they hold a place in my heart after having grown up with the company, I still have faith they can put out great games but todays market just is not kind to the types of games I love.
9/10 Who cares about 3rd party games? You can get any other platform for those. No, Nintendo is always something special and I really appreciate that. King of handhelds and game design. Sadly also king of not using amazing opportunities. (We should bet, I don't think Pokemon Snap will come to Wii U.) Company suggestion: Double Fine I think that would be a tough one to rate.
Used to be creative with inspired games and hardware on par with their competitors. Now they rely on cheap gimmicks to sell good with overused game forumula's and have generation old hardware...
1 out of 10. Nintendo is really bad at making games. They make N64 games with gamecube graphics. All of their games are easy, simple and not fun to play. They dont put any effort or money into their games. All of them have small budgets and small development times. They feel cheap. They all have simple cartoony graphics which shows lazyness. Audio quality of their games are bad. Alot of them still use midi music...lol. No voice acting. Barely any cutscenes. Horrible story or just a rehash of saving princesses etc. Gameplay is insanely easy. AI is non existant in nintendo made games. Enemies either stay in one spot waiting to die, or they walk back and forth. Thats it. Their online games suck so far. Rehashing the same series over and over with little improvements. I dont see how anyone can give nintendo a 10 for their games when most of them are average at best. As for the rest of the company, they are insanely behind the times. They make idiotic decisions that push third parties away. They push gimmicks way too hard and they mostly suck. They make us suffer through massive game droughts which has been normal since the N64 days. Thats insane. Nintendos a bad company and ill never understand why the fanboys love them so much.
