should I just upgrade my PC which will cost around $300-$400

or just get the Last Of Us PS4 Bundle in canada for $450

I am thinking long term and I tend to be finde med/high setting and yes PC is better for this I find that I pay $30+ for a game and only use it for SP story mode's. and I can't trade it in caz pc so should I upgrade or get a new console I only use pc for CS:S or L4D2 and other such game's.

my only issue with PS4 is I can't use a Controller( or the Xbox One for that fact ) worth a shit when it come's to FPS so could I learn or a 3rd party converter for K/M for a PS4.?

Normally I'd say pc, but it depends on what your current pc specs are. If they're good enough that you'll be able to play most indies and pc exclusives already, then I'd get the ps4, it opens the door to more games.

If, however, you have a potato, go ahead and upgrade the pc I'd say... The returns will be worth it :D

I don't really understand how anybody can ask this question because the PS4 literally has nothing at the moment, where as PC gaming really has grown to cater to everybody. I would wait and pick up a PS4 in a year or possibly more depending on delays, it will probably have a decent library by that point.

Personal preference is really thrown out the window with the fact that pc gaming just does everything the console can.

The 3 things that might persuade you to get a console are:

1. Friends play on it.

2. You like the exclusives.

3. Portability (though it can be said about the PC... But I'll leave it here.)

But, honestly there's nothing passed that for having a console... (Remember paying for online exists on console.)

If the cost is about the same, just look at the games, current and upcoming, and get what appeals to you.

Personally, I'm considering selling my PS4 and I just bought 2 new gpus. Guess my answer would be obvious.

@thelordofpies: Oh. That's near the same specs I have. You should be fine to upgrade to a 970 with those specs. (Just make sure you have space in your tower and the PSU supports the 970.)

@thelordofpies: I would suggest the 970 as it does outperform the 290x, only a 30$ difference in price as well. Sometimes you just have to stop being team red and join team green heh.

But if you decide to go 290x you should be fine with those specs. (Post on PC discussions if you want more in-depth help and suggestions. Cuz I only know two of the things you have heh.)

@thelordofpies: PC discussions will be your best friend. =p

But yes the 8 core is perfect as it is. (I currently have a amd 6 core.)

If you wanted to go Intel you would get a boost. But not enough to warrant a purchase of a completely new CPU. All you really need is a new gpu if you want to future proof it for years.

If you already have a PC, just upgrade. A PS4 will be a downgrade for you anyway.

well yeah, i mean pc had the highest rated exlusives this year, so far next gen has brought nothing and you can play those without a upgrade.

But here is the thing, new cpus and gpus are coming windows 10 and dx12

So if you want tlou get a ps4, play it and you can build a great pc later.

The order might worth a rent, but i can see the flop coming from a mile way, if you care about dark souls there is bloodborne.

Then you can sell your ps4 if you dont need it anymore.

AMD 8 core CPU's are great 8320/8350 etc.

Just make sure you have an aftermarket cooler those chips run hot when under higher loads while gaming.

PC is primary and the choice should be on a PC upgrade.

Consoles are secondary and at the current moment, none of them even comes closes to having to sacrifice a potential good PC upgrade. The PS4 is even a worse situation right now compared to the Wii U and Xbox One.

Get a console when you have enough money to spare on a secondary platform and there is actually some exclusive games on that platform to justify the expense.

I'd probably get a PS4 and mush on with the current PC. Worse comes to worse, I can play PC games at a smaller res and windowed screen. Ha Ha!

I can always replace the PC farther down the road.

This.. Especially with these current consoles.. I may own one of them but I can't deny how inferior they are to PC's when it comes to gaming.

I have the AMD 6 core equivalent of your processor paired with a GTX 970 and it's has destroyed any game I've thrown at it.

If it's a choice between the two.. Upgrade that PC.. You're not missing much on consoles right now.

Do you play graphically demanding games/will you be playing graphically demanding games that will be coming out soon like The Witcher 3?

Also, what PS4 games interest you besides the Last of Us? Honestly that's the best game out for the PS4 right now now and it's a remastered PS3 game. Everything else is multiplatform that you can play on your PC.

If you could only choose one, PC.

But the WiiU and ps4 seem to be great additions to it's library with both offering several strong upcoming exclusives.

PS4 because any PC nowadays is capable of running any game because PC developers don't push the PC any more. PC gaming only has MMO`s and RTS which can run on any cheap $100 wal mart tablet.

Multiplat games go both ways. He can play The Witcher 3 and other multiplats on the PS4 and save the PC for PC exclusives. The problem is, how many PC exclusives are really that demanding?

If he can get by with the current PC for PC exclusives, he might as well buy a PS4.

just go with what you feel is best. personally, i own a ps4 but its ownly appeal right now is all hype;

it's all about games that aren't even coming out for another 6-12 months. sure im looking forward to p5, uncharted and bloodborne

but really it's all hype w/o anything else; i don't really recommend dropping $400+ (and more $$ for ps+) simply based on hope that those games will be great;

just look at 2014, so many hyped games that ended up becoming disappoiintments. PC on the other hand; the library speaks for it self. you can't go wrong.

Depends, get a console that have/get exclusives you want, you then can play all games for it for the whole generation. With PC you have to upgrade every 2-3 years if you want to keep up with the system requirements, unless you like to lower the settings to joke. Best is to have both a PC and console of choice

Always go for additional platforms to maximize the number of games you have access to, then fine-tune(PC-upgrades, monitors, sound systems) from there imo.

The current consoles are the worst we have ever seen. So unless all your friends play on a PS4... rather upgrade your PC and ask people for interesting PC games. For a ton of good PC games you probably won't need to upgrade your PC anyways..

8 Core AMD is fine so an upgrade to either 290x or GTX 970 (I'd personally go 970). One other question though, how much RAM do you have? These days you ideally want 8GB minimum but RAM is pretty cheap so if you can stretch to it go for 16GB.

As others have said though go where your friends are and your intended use. For me consoles are a waste of time and money but that's only my opinion.

Sigh so many stupid replies by dumb fanboys in this thread.

Here is the situation, since you already have a gaming PC, you can:

1. Upgrade your PC and get...better graphics.

2. buy a PS4 and get....more games.

To all the simple minded people who replied "PC, PC it has the most games" he can STILL play those games smh basically you guys are saying graphics are more important than games. How many times are you really going to MOD the same games to fap about it's graphics?

A PS4 would allow him to play games that will never be available on PC and what exactly does PC have coming out 1Q 2015 anyway?

Most big 2015 games on PC don't even have release dates or won't even make 2015 (those space and flight sims) no release dates. There hasn't been hype for much else except UT which didn't even have characters functional the last time they demoed what they have.

so the real question is TC would you rather have better graphics on games you can already play or more overall quality games to play.

TL;DR: OP you want the exclusives that might come out and may not flop or do you want better graphics for games that are already out or bound to come out.

@thelordofpies: Long term, the PS4's price could drop by the time the big hitters start coming out. It's a fact of life that console value depreciates over the gen. If you are going to buy a console, you are doing so because there are games that you can get nowhere else.

Steam sales in the long run will save you more money than any trade-in ever will.

Not much to play on the ps4 at this time and since you have a decent cpu you could buy a gtx 970 which has a low tpd and offers great performance/price ratio. And consider the ps4 in a year or two when more exclusive games are out.
