there seems to be alot of things going wrong on the X360.

1. no next-gen format (HD-DVD) for more game storage.
2. disc scratching problem
3. lousy disc drive that makes monstrous noise
4. RROD (overheating)
5. big power brick
6. 3 Sku's to confuse consumers, and the Core has no HDD, a step backward
7. no bluetooth
8. no motion sensing ability, Wii has Wiimote, PS 3 has Sixasis
9. no real backward compatibility

overall, the technology on the X360 is nothing ground breaking, they just pieced together some off-the-shelves components and snaped an X on top of it.

PS 3 has Blu-ray and cell, thats what i call next-gen, agree?

edit: sorry, the list just keeps growing

Add in the simple fact it has nothing but shooters, multiplats, lack of Japan support, and has terrible backwards compatibility (people can't play any of their favorites on the 360) you got yourself a rushed product....

360 may have its fair share of hardware problems. But man the system and its games rock. The last two months Gameinformer has given 360 games high

Bioshock---10

Halo 3---9.75

Mass Effect---9.75

Orange Box---9.75

PGR 4---9.25

Blue Dragon---9

Ace Combat---8.75

and of course all the superior multiplats right now

Yes: the 360 has problems

No: I dont call a blu-ray player and a non gaming processor "next generation"

"off the shelf componants"... link?... to the store that sells XENOS if the 360 is £200 the Xenos would be a steal GPU for my PC

SKU's?!... 40GB, 80GB, 60GB!

Power Brick?... its either in the console increasing the size of it(PS3) or out of the console like the 360 :|

Disk Drive making noise?... one that doesn't make noise is next gen :|

It might be rushed, but most of the reasons you mentioned don't make it rushed, other than the RROD really.

I wouldn't say rushed. Their biggest mistake was being cheap on the Heatsink solutions to the GPU. That overheating problem cost them over a Billion and angered quite a few.

Also:

No one is getting confused over multiple SKUs, :| Which is obvious by 360's successful sales. If anything PS3 is the one with messed SKUs, they are already knocking off 2 units, and released a 3rd and planning on a 4th all in their first year. After then mention how they were only going to stick to on SKU.

TheSolution3k
The shooters thing has been debunked, you would be better off saying the good games are shooters. There is nothing wrong with multi-plats. Japan is a problem, but the original Xbox had the same problem and it wasn't rushed. BC is pretty crappy, but that is subjective. None of those points make it rushed though.

no 3 SKU's does indeed confuse consumers. lets say if a casual wanted to buy an X360, that person would probably have a hard time figuring out which version he should get. the one cheaper but no HDD? or the one that cost higher and has most of the stuffs packed in?

and those 2 SKU's do have a big difference on game-making part.

mad cow disease is right. It must be why you glosed over the fact all the important xbox games are backwards compatable and that people don't want to have two systems under their TV when one should be enough.

Everyone here should be able to admit the Xbox 360 was rushed, there are too many engineering problems (not to mention the issue with the original Xbox's lifecycle) to think otherwise IMO.

I think it is rushed simply because it is obvious that the console's hardware has a lot of problems that could have been prevented if MS would have taken the time to make sure the system was built solidly. The 360 is a great system though and it makes sense that it came out when it did. It's just too bad that so many people have had to deal with the faulty hardware. Sorry if I sound bitter, mine has been gone for a while after it died about a month ago.

all of them basically do the same things, just different hard drive space, and on the 40GB they sacrificed BC components to make the price more affordable, but definitely they can do a system upgrade to enable PS 2 emulator to run. and don't most people have an PS 2 already?

yea, cause the blu-ray and cell are so awesome and benificial  and you're in no position to talk about "terrible backwards compatiblility after this 40GB PS3.jack_russel

The Cell dates from patents back around in 2000 and its a very well thoughtout chip and while we're at it the 40GB PS3 still has better backwards comp than 360 does.

What are you talking about? You can play over 325 games on 360 from Xbox 1. I think Halo 2 is one of everyone's favorite. Does that new 40 Gig ps3 comin even play Ps2 games?

Cubs360

Nope, but it plays roughly 2200 english-language PS1 games.

Yes: the 360 has problems

No: I dont call a blu-ray player and a non gaming processor "next generation"

sadikovic

The Cell was intended to be in the PS3 almost from the beginning so you are talking out your butt there and Blu-Ray is next-generation in every sense of the word. While we're at it that internal PSU is far more advanced than the brick of death the 360 has and the disc-drive in 360 is not only far noisier, but less reliable (no rubber pads, thanks a lot guys you saved 3 cents and destroyed tons of game discs).

No, the PS2 might have sold well, but hardly anyone has a PS2 on a global basis.nintendofreak_2

Out of the existing market? More than 70% have a PS2 and the rest likely aren't going to be upgrading for a number of years.

I think it was rushed, the technical issues are difficult to explain othervise, I can't believe that MS wasn't aware of the problems before they launched it, and if they knowingly launched it unfinished/broken, then it's rushed imo.

I said on a global basis. If you're looking at the gaming market alone, yes then somebody could say almost everybody owns a PS2, but not on global scale.

@Game13a13y :

Please, XBOX360's SKU's are hardly confusing, its just a matter of:

1.Grabbing the box

2.Reading it

Or if you are actually incapable of doing that

3. Ask a store employee.

Still mostly everyone who is relevant will have one. Kids in Cambodia aren't exactly going to be very likely to pick up a PS3 unless they pirate it (and this isn't racism, piracy is a huge issue in that area).

nah, this is how the logic work: if it was rushed, then that means they didn't perfect it to be what next-gen gaming systems are supposed to be. then if you factor in the Blu-ray and Cell and Motion sensing ability (best on the Wii). it will make it a last-gen hardware.

I was merely commenting on the TC's post when he asked if most people already owned a PS2. I proved him wrong, unless less he considers less than half a percent of the world's population almost everybody.

How can you pirate a console. I've never heard of that happening.
