Or, well, the trading card game is anyway.

This should be interesting, this would mean, if The Pokemon Company handles it right, that the Pokemon Trading Card Game would be going head to head with Blizzard's Hearthstone. That would be an interesting battle to watch.

NOTABLY, THIS IS ALSO THE FIRST TIME A GAME BASED ON A NINTENDO PROPERTY HAS APPEARED ON NON NINTENDO HARDWARE IN OVER TEN YEARS.

Source

I think I'll get it. I used to love the Pokemon trading card back in the day, and being able to play it on the go on my iPad should be very handy indeed.

Too bad the Pokemon cardgame sucks.

Move aside, Hearthstone, make way for the King.

I liked the trading card game on gb/c. think I'll stick with that since nothing can replace it imo. :P

Dude. Not even. The Pokemon card game is amazing (although I can't keep up with some of their newer rules).

Maybe an eShop 3DS/Wii U game too? I know they make less money than iOS, but come on, it's been YEARS since Nintendo owners played Pokemon TCG on one of their platforms. It would be nice to see another one there too.

normal pokemon on a phone would be cool, shame it wont hapen

Fuck you OP. You got me so hyped with that title.

Wow I remember having those Cards when I was younger do they still make them?. I wonder if it will come to Android.

You can buy the Pokemon TCG on the 3DS eShop Virtual Console.

Not too worried about it. They'll probably make some money off of it. I don't care much for the TCG so it doesn't affect me too badly but, I wouldn't be surprised to see it come to the 3DS later on. As long as the mobile games stay small like this, then I have no problem with it.

I've been reading some of this since yesterday and am confused. I'm guessing it's the same one as the one on PC but does it have like a virtual store where you can buy booster packs with in game currency? Or do you have to use codes that some booster packs come with?

Pokemon is a kids game though.

#31 Posted by nini200 (9827 posts) -

Never played it.

I will stick with SNK vs Capcom: Card Fighters Clash though. Game is ridiculously fun.

#32 Edited by EasyComeEasyGo (585 posts) -

Sounds good but all I really want to play is just Yu-Gi-Oh. I never ever play Pokemon Cards in my life. Should I be worry?

Aren't you still sort of wrong? I mean the PTCG Online has been out for PC and Mac (non-nintendo platform) for 3 years now. It is only now getting the port to the ipad.

#34 Edited by locopatho (20385 posts) -

I'm pretty sure I know people who play "real" Pokemon on iPad. Cough.

I have no confidence in Nintendo implementing microtransactions in a non-sleazy way.

Pokemon is not a whole-owned Nintendo franchise.

Working around the double negatives, you say Nintendo will implement microtransactions in a sleazy way?

Alright, just wanted to be clear, double negatives always throw me off lol.

It seems that investors are happy with this as Nintendo's stocks went up as high as 6.9%. The other good news is that Mario Kart 8 surpassed one million in sales in the U.S.

Beat me to it. All I wanted to say, was, "...and so it begins."

I think Nintendo is dipping its toe into the warm waters of Apple's iOS. We'll see how the toe fares in a brave new pool.

Pokemon isn't managed by Nintendo at all. It is managed by The Pokemon Company, an independent entity. Any Pokemon related media coming to iOS (and this isn't even the first- a Pokemon anime app, and a Pokedex app have already come to the App Store before) is not at all reflective or indicative of Nintendo's policies at large.

This seems to fit in with their use of iOS plans in that it being used for advertisement of their products.

Still owned by Nintendo.

I'm still waiting on a full, well done open-world Pokemon game running on a modern gaming engine. Although I haven't had an interest in Pokemon for years, nostalgia alone would ensure a game like that would be a tremendous hit - Especially considering how well every single Pokemon game released has done.

#49 Posted by turtlethetaffer (16793 posts) -

@SuddenlyTragic: Define open world because after a certain point technically all the main Pokemon games are open world.
