Pokemon coming to iPad

Or, well, the trading card game is anyway.

This should be interesting, this would mean, if The Pokemon Company handles it right, that the Pokemon Trading Card Game would be going head to head with Blizzard's Hearthstone. That would be an interesting battle to watch.

NOTABLY, THIS IS ALSO THE FIRST TIME A GAME BASED ON A NINTENDO PROPERTY HAS APPEARED ON NON NINTENDO HARDWARE IN OVER TEN YEARS.

I think I'll get it. I used to love the Pokemon trading card back in the day, and being able to play it on the go on my iPad should be very handy indeed.

Maybe an eShop 3DS/Wii U game too? I know they make less money than iOS, but come on, it's been YEARS since Nintendo owners played Pokemon TCG on one of their platforms. It would be nice to see another one there too.

I remember having that Pokemon card game for the Gameboy color. That was the absolute shit.

Pokemon Play it came out on PC for Windows 98...... I can't believe no one thought of that.....

Not too worried about it. They'll probably make some money off of it. I don't care much for the TCG so it doesn't affect me too badly but, I wouldn't be surprised to see it come to the 3DS later on. As long as the mobile games stay small like this, then I have no problem with it.

I've been reading some of this since yesterday and am confused. I'm guessing it's the same one as the one on PC but does it have like a virtual store where you can buy booster packs with in game currency? Or do you have to use codes that some booster packs come with?

Aren't you still sort of wrong? I mean the PTCG Online has been out for PC and Mac (non-nintendo platform) for 3 years now. It is only now getting the port to the ipad.

It seems that investors are happy with this as Nintendo's stocks went up as high as 6.9%. The other good news is that Mario Kart 8 surpassed one million in sales in the U.S.

I think Nintendo is dipping its toe into the warm waters of Apple's iOS. We'll see how the toe fares in a brave new pool.

Pokemon isn't managed by Nintendo at all. It is managed by The Pokemon Company, an independent entity. Any Pokemon related media coming to iOS (and this isn't even the first- a Pokemon anime app, and a Pokedex app have already come to the App Store before) is not at all reflective or indicative of Nintendo's policies at large.

This seems to fit in with their use of iOS plans in that it being used for advertisement of their products.

I'm still waiting on a full, well done open-world Pokemon game running on a modern gaming engine. Although I haven't had an interest in Pokemon for years, nostalgia alone would ensure a game like that would be a tremendous hit - Especially considering how well every single Pokemon game released has done.

@SuddenlyTragic: Define open world because after a certain point technically all the main Pokemon games are open world.
