For me, this is good news, as now I can delete the PS HOME application off my PS3 and free up some more needed space. As everyone knows, PS HOME was a social media and community application that allowed you to own your own apartment and invite 3D models of your friends to it for social gatherings. There was also a mall, movie theater and entertainment room that had bowling, air hockey, and other games to play. The idea was sound at first, but this was obviously created as a money grab since Sony wasn't charging anyone anything for online gaming. I think they felt this would compensate for those lose funds. If you wanted to decorate your apartment you would have to pay real money for furniture, pictures, lamps, beds, etc.. You could also buy different clothes for your avatar. There was a mall with many stores where could buy many different things using real money as well. You could purchase games or rent a movie. Sony hoped this would be like Second Life and get millions of gamers to spend real money in this evironment. I don't think that happened at all. Every time I went there I found a bunch of teens standing around dancing and chatting in bubble text. Many of these teens were immature and acting a fool. I never stayed more then 30 mins before I was bored to death. Everytime I went back, there was a huge update that had to be installed, which took more then 30mins. I tried deleting the PS HOME application, but every time Sony has an O/S update, it returns.

So now the PS HOME application is being fore-closed for good. Thank God. This had to be one of the worse application on the PS3 and I hope Sony doesn't try to do something like this on the PS4. You can read about the HOME closure here.

I know i was in the massively minor minority but HOME was cool.

Sure it took for ever to official come out and they kept changing stuff on us all the time, and the loading invisible walls were annoying, but the concept was amazing and it had lots of cool things to do and explore. It had lots of content and events. If I had to give HOME a review score i would give it a 7.5/10 mostly becuz of the loading times and the lack of a sprint button.

HOME is one of those things that was ahead of its time and was too ambitious for its own good. If HOME were to be continued over on the PS4, it would definitely be an awesome experience. And if Home were to have been build on the PS4 from the ground up, it would have been a huge deal and a game changer. I would love HOME on PS4

Although HOME was for the most part ignore by most gaming forums and such, it was surprisingly very populated and active community.

They were most likely 11-15yrs old kids, so I'm not surprised. They don't know anything about Poker.

@RR360DD: It was actually quite successful.

That said, the height of my PS Home time was spent in the never finished RE5 area as well as the Uncharted 2 and 3 areas.

It was fun dinking around if you were with a friend but otherwise it was kind of lack luster.

Good riddance. This was just one terrible idea Sony created and wasted online resources instead of making PSN more secure and better. This was more of a virtual advertisement world than a social community. I feel bad for those that spent so much money buying these Avatard items, actually even spending so much time collecting the free content too. At least for Xbox, Avatar items carries over. With PS Home items, they took your money and ran after closing its doors. You can't really trust Playstation especially with online services and content. I wouldn't be surprise if more PS3 games start shutting down online too. Why couldn't Sony continue supporting it and even remaster it for PS4 lol.

I'll admit, I played it for the trophies when it received a patch (shame). Glad I collected them all though before it closes.

It really is awful. Like a sandbox Miiverse with microtransactions and horrible loadtimes. Probably could have been something cool I guess but ended up being a complete waste of time.

Home is always packed with people. If you're bored and feel like playing some chess or pool you can always use HOME and find someone to play against. This is just another case of the Call of Duty syndrome where everywhere you go people are hating but then each year we are reminded that COD is still one of the biggest Triple A franchise in this industry.

PlaySation HOME was a sexual assault simulator and it deserved to be shut down days after its release. I lost count of how many times I'd be followed, stocked, trapped by bodies that only wanted to grind up against me and dry hump dance up on me.

I bet you just think that I'm saying that Home is as big as COD, right? But since you replied, which is rare, I will not give up on this chance to own you because is sooo easy.

If no one uses Home, then why has it lasted this long? And not only that why it gets updated regularly too?

All you have to do is turn on your PS3, enter Home and see for yourself. Even their forums are more active than this board.

This is a bad idea from Sony, if anything they should bring it to the PS4 and expand upon it. Lots of people still use it and put alot of money into it buying stuff for their avatars. And now Sony is just gonna tell the userbase that all the stuff they bought is now just gone. I see an outcry and petition incoming.

It was a smart way for them to make money since they didn't have a subscription for online on ps3. Now ps4 has a subscription so it's not necessary. They should bring it to ps4 without the load times though, I still wouldn't use it but it's a good way to promote games and get extra revenue.

I could see it loading up your apartment in the background when you start up your ps4 and being all integrated.

Never claimed it was as big as CoD. Also, of course they're not gonna shut it down and support it for a long time. Not when morons are dumping money into fake furniture and clothes nonstop. Doesn't mean it was a popular service, just means lots of idiots dumped enough money into it to keep it running all these years. If you want to play pool go to a fucking bar like a normal person and meet REAL people

there were mumbelings that home was going to replace the XMB. basically you would do everything from launch a game to chaning settings or whatever from PS home. in theory an interesting idea.

but one thing that really frustrated me about home was that it was so slow. i have a 100Mb/s connection (which is working fine) and the amount of time it would take to download and load something was immense.

its also clear that, despite not being a looker, it pushes the PS3 very hard. performance is not the best. so using it instead of the XMB was never really a runner.

still i liked the cinema and i remember they had an E3 section for it one year which was cool. i didnt spend any money in it mind. i just walked around in my goofy combination of different watchmen clothing :P.

And nothing of value was lost.

Except for the few thousand of people who spent $100's of dollar on decorating their virtual apartments & virtual self. lol!! Nothing of value was lost for me though. I agree.

For me, this is good news, as now I can delete the PS HOME application off my PS3 and free up some more needed space.

If you didnt use it then why havent you already deleted it in the 1st place?

You didn't read my whole post, did you? I said I tried deleting it, but it kept coming back when Sony had an O/S update.

Uh? That never happened to me. I had home installed, I deleted it and I never had it coming back with updates... :|
