I love ArmA 3 and it's new lighting is fantastic, but it will always have issues with LoD and detail because it's a sim.

Considering the scale it does look good.. Its a fun title and I spent many hours online...

But I wouldnt say its a Graphics King contender since there are many other better looking titles...

PLanetside 2 is close if not unpar i agree. 

Assassins Creed Black Flag, Watchdogs, Killzone SF, Ryse, Battlefield 4 all make Planetside look average at best its big barren worlds with no detail

Its pretty CPU heavy.

Hopefully more CPU optimization is done for this game since you could essentially lose 40% of performance by having a weaker CPU or a AMD.

These screens don't do PS2 any justice.

The game looks impressive because of it's scale and lighting. Screens of small skirmishes or up close stuff won't do it any justice.

 Every engine is a modified "old engine". Do you think crytech started all over from scratch going from cryengine 1 to 2, and 2 to 3? Software is highly iterative, there are very few and far cases where people "start from scratch" if they already have solid foundations. Theres absolutely no reason to start from scratch if you coded it smartly.

Yep, I have a game going right now in Rome: Total War on my sh*tty PC.  In all it's minimal options glory.  Still fun as hell though, and I think it could easily be put on the new consoles.  They are powerful enough.

I'm guessing that would be the graphics card.  I don't know what kind of graphics card the X1 or PS4 has, but I would be surprised if it couldn't handle total war.

it's not possible to play total war games with a controller. The devs would have to redesign the entire game and streamline it to hotkey everything on the controller.

even if they did all of that who'd even buy it on the consoles?

An amazing game, I'd have played it more if it wasn't so heavy on resources.

Now that I have my new PC I'll play more of it when I'm done finishing my backlog of games I skipped due to lack of processing power.

There are rarely any RTS have been successful on console beside the developer already said they aren't planning to release on next gen
