pc has once again stolen an exclusive final fantasy remake. final fantasy 8 will be remade in HD for pc much like how ff7 was.

Cool. Did they manage to fix the fact that the in-game and tools-interface control editors don't talk to each other properly? Or the fact that most modern cards can't run the game at even at SD because the game won't recognise modern display drivers correctly?  Or the FMV that would run upside-down?  Or the obscene performance issues that still exist at times even on modern rigs?

I know FFVIII is disliked by many, but I enjoyed it. The screen shots do not look HD. Pass, with FFX HD's coming out this year.

It´s only a beginning of the end of last gen consoles. I am pretty sure, if we wait a bit, Nintendo will announce next Zelda as WiiU-PC exclusive.

SE has soo many great IP'S but, SO little brains...

Actually this thread destroys every "PC gamers are pirates" and "developers lose money on PC games" arguments.  If they are pushing what is considered the "worst" FF game to the PC then it must be profitable.  Otherwise they would only push out the best since they know that would sell at least a little.

I some how doubt this is a remake of any kind and probably just another re-release of the original FF8 PC beefed up a little to run on new OS's.  That and they'll probably add a cheat mode along with some other insignificant features like achievements.   They didn't even bother changing the crappy midi soundtrack in the FF7 PC re-release.

It does have a badass intro and some really awesome cutscenes. like balamb garden flying away from missiles or that sniper scene against Edea

I think nostalgia or bad memory is clouding that perception. I've often said that about games, hell recently I replayed FFX on PCSX2 on PC and while it was far greater looking than the original I was thinking it didn't look that different, cos I forgot what FFX actually looked like. Having direct comparison made me realise just how rough FFX actually was back then
