Anyways I left my PS4 on standby today and downloaded games and apps bought off of the PSN store through their mobile app while at work. Came home and they were installed, same with updates to AC IV and KZ. Magically delicious I tell you.

Sony Exchanging Defective PlayStation 4 Units Immediately

We reached out to Sony today to find out more about the reports of defective PlayStation 4 units. As we mentioned last week, Sony estimates hardware failures at 0.4 percent.

“There have been several issues reported, which leads us to believe there isn’t a singular problem that could impact a broader percentage of PS4 units,” a Sony representative tells Game Informer. “We also understand that some units were reportedly damaged during shipping. The number of affected PS4 systems is less than 1%, which represents a very small percentage of total units shipped to date and is within the expected range for a new product introduction. We understand the frustration of consumers that have had a problem and are working with them and our retail partners to help troubleshoot issues and ensure affected units are exchanged”

We inquired about repair and replacement times for those consumers that choose to approach Sony directly rather than attempt a fix through a retailer. The representative gave us some good news. “SCEA is exchanging units with new replacements for those who call our support line,” he says. “The exchanges are immediate with expedited shipping.”

Our Take

Defective units are a fact of any mass market electronics launch, and having it fixed quickly is the second-best thing to not needing repair or replacement at all. If your retailer can’t help you with an immediate exchange, call Sony support and you should be up and running quickly.

Yep, it's incredibly cool. I even messed about with Remote Play playing BF4 Online + Vita as the controller, lol. Next time I'm also involving a Tablet or smartphone for the ultimate gimmick experience on PS4, lol.

Later today(Nov 19), the next system software update for PlayStation 4 (version 1.51) will be available. With this minor required update, stability of system software has been improved. In addition, minor refinements to elements of the system UI (such as clearly indicating when a user downloads a game and a game patch at the same time) have been introduced.

In the North American region, automatic downloads for system and game updates are enabled by default when PS4 is in stand-by mode. Once system software update 1.51 is available later tonight, your PS4 will automatically download it, enabling you to update quickly and easily.

I gave my PS4 some time off after all the overtime it put in the last few days, lol...but it's on standby now ready for this update.

How was the aiming online? I was playing Killzone Mercenary online today and had a great match because I had been playing for a while. Came back later after a few hours and had to re-assimilate myself and had a pretty horrible match because I couldn't aim for shit.

It was decent. I tweaked it before I went online. It was cool just operating the PS3 like that.

I do prefer the DS4 though at least so far in my days worth of owning the game. Remote play worked good, but it was more a novelty for that game.

As far as what I read a few months back, Sony changed that particular updating situation so that it is free now, no PS+ required.

Of course, every PS4 ships with a free PS+ card (and $10 gift PSN card) and everyone I knew used the PS+ 30 days, so I'll know more maybe in 30 days, lol.

So how does this video sharing work? Let's say I'm playing Fifa against my buddy, score the most amazing goal of all times and want to save the video. Then what?

Not complaining cos it was quick, but left my PS4 on standby overnight and it didn't update (required me to say yes) >:(

Is there a setting to remove the need to give permission so it just auto updates?

I went through the same thing this morning, having to give the PS4 permission. When I said yes, it updated at light speed, very fast, so I wonder if the PS4 had downloaded this update last night, and I was merely there to give the a-okay when the time came. After I said okay, it was done, simply needed to reboot.

It's also possible there is a setting, but I'm not sure. It's so new, right?

Been playing Killzone since I just got my games in the mail yesterday. (I get Need for Speed Rivals on Friday)

Game looks and plays amazing. Was really impressed that console gaming has gotten this far. I'm loving this ride.

Now if only I can get Lightning Returns to show up on the PS4 store somehow as an upgrade. That would be awesome

It will only download the update, not install it. It doesn't install during standby to avoid the risk of someone unplugging or powering off the system while updating.

If nothing from E3 til now can make someone choose PS4 over XB1... then nothing I can say or do will make them choose wisely. Let them have their inferior 720p "entertainment" box. Enjoy your Halo, Fable, Forza combo x3... and don't forget dem TIMED EXCLUSIVE COD MAPS!!!! WOOOOOOO!

The only reason I can see getting a XB1 over PS4 is if Halo is super important to you, and/ or you don't have a semi-decent PC to play Titanfall on. Otherwise... get a PS4.

So with the extra cash I got this week I went in search of a PS4 to pre-order before next weeks launch..... sold out EVERYWHERE!

Still don't get what the rush is buying a console, especially considering how faulty the hardware ends up being.

Just got two £22 reductions off next gen titles from Amazon UK, not sure why but i've already used them and it allowed them both on one title. BF4 on PS4 has cost me £3 lol, dunno whether it's because i've not got a preorder dispatch date on the console yet? (I preordered late :( )

Can someone give me a couple of recommendations for some sub $100 headsets for the PS4? Not sure what the heck is compatible atm, cos the thing is the box is ... well lol

You talking for headset/mic? Sony patched in USB support so if you dont mind having a wired set, any headset should work well enough for gaming.

The console comes with an earbud/mic for chat.

I got mine on lock! Getting some extra swag with mine. Its a week away D:
