Nintendo has confirmed in this article that they are indeed prepping their next gen console.

“Once we launch a new platform, we naturally start to prepare for the next one. As it takes several years to develop a single platform, if you ask us whether we are preparing for our next system, then the correct response will be that we are always developing new hardware."

This is great and all and we all already knew that pretty much. The issue comes when the question of when to launch it is asked. This is their response:

“I can certainly assure you that we are not at a dead end of any kind in which we are out of ideas for developing new hardware. I of course believe that launching new hardware will not produce good results unless we first make sure that those who have already purchased our platforms are satisfied."

Ok now, that's good that they want to satisfy the owners of the WiiU but with the way things have been going lately, the new console will never be launched. WiiU owners are not satisfied due to Nintendo's mentality of "we don't need third party" and "we are not competing".

Any competent individual with ANY kind of COMMON BUSINESS KNOWLEDGE knows that you will HAVE to compete to stay relevant. With the mentality that they have, they are trying to play the "I am not competing" card because they know they have some tough competition. That is ridiculous and basically a forfeit to say the least.

And that's not the worst part. The Author has the same mentality that most of the Nintendo fanbase has which is a huge part of the reason why Nintendo is in the predicament that they are in now. Here's the Author's mentality:

"However, I think we can finally draw the curtain on the Wii U and move on from it once Producer Eiji Aonuma and his team crank out an original Legend of Zelda game that takes full advantage of the Wii U’s HD capabilities. I could live without a Metroid or a Star Fox or a Kirby on this Wii U console, but all seems for not if I don’t get my Legend of Zelda."

What a Selfish Prick! Zelda is good but are you really that daft to think that once Zelda comes out, that is enough to validate a $300 console? No, WE NEED METROID, WE NEED KIRBY, WE NEED STAR FOX, WE NEED NINTENDO TO WORK ON OTHER IP'S OTHER THAN JUST ZELDA ALL THE TIME! When will Nintendo's fanbase get this through their heads? Zelda can not single handedly hold a Nintendo console.

These are the exact types of comments that have Nintendo thinking, "Oh well we can just make ANOTHER Zelda and we'll be alright" and this same mentality will have them behind the competition this gen.

They better crank out a serious E3 WiiU owners wont be satisfied with just a new Zelda.

It has only been a year and a half and the system is just now starting to hit it's stride. This is the case with any console cycle, and as such, it is still early in it's life. All they need to do is keep pumping out great games and people will notice, as evidenced by Mario Kart 8.

Scrapping Wii U early and releasing another system with the risk of failure and damaged consumer confidence would be the worst and most classic mistake they could make. In other words, if they pull a Saturn, then their next system will surely be their Dreamcast. There is plenty of life left in the Wii U and their best bet is to continue to prove their point with what they released, instead of folding like a cheap lawn chair and screwing over everyone who bought it.

Damn Nintendo sucks at their job. There's absolutely no wonder as to why the U is doing so poorly.

All console manufactures start working on their next generation consoles after they release the current one. The first two years or so are research and development. It takes time and thought to make a console. Both Sony and Microsoft are likely already looking to the future as well. Nintendo will likely support the Wii-U for five years unless sales start drastically improving.

So, in other words, Nintendo will stubbornly live & die by their BACKWARDS THINKING business approach and rely solely on their 1st Party games.........AGAIN.

Nothing new here, folks! It's time to move along.

lmao you're so called logic was tried with the Gamecube and it still failed miserably. Nintendo released amazing games and also went as far as to drop the price to $99 and still flopped. what you think makes sense doesn't always ring true.

Yeah bro. Not even sure if you quoted the correct post as that has nothing to do with what ironcreed said... at all.

Also the GC was very profitable for Nintendo. I'm sure they would have enjoyed some higher numbers, but in the end it was a success. As a matter of fact, Nintendo made more money than Sony that gen even with the monster that was the PS2.

Still, that's an entirely different conversation.

I would go through the trouble of explaining it, but I'd rather you just read ironcreeds post again, realize that your response had nothing to do with what he said and then get back to me.

Thanks.
