@kingtito: So was Gamecube, and it had third party support and was super powerful. And that beach was super cheap. They had to mark it down to $99 just to push it.

What was the decline between the N64/GCN and the Wii/Wii U? Unfortunately the Wii U was the biggest failure Nintendo has experienced considering where it was elevated with the Wii. Only achieving 12 or 13 percent of what you were able to sell is bad, really bad!

No point arguing with him, he's had too much of dat kool aid

@foxhound_fox: Pokémon GO hasn't even come close to doubling that. Total Pokémon GO revenue isn't even at 20% of that, and Nintendo only gets 15-20% of that revenue in the first place.

Well according to site's I've read roughly 50% of all android market transactions are from Pokémon Go.

15 - 20% is quite a lot.

The game has earned about $40 million total worldwide between Android and iOS. Remember that 50% of transactions does not mean 50% of all revenue.

It's a pretty good result for Nintendo, given their losses in recent years. I haven't read the details of their latest financial report (thanks for linking to it), but it seems to me that ongoing software sales have helped them to recoup much of their investment in Wii U.

What I find interesting too is that they've turned a profit for the year despite obviously investing in NX (both hardware and software). I'll need to dig into the report to find out more about how those figures work out.

It'll be interesting to see how Wii U sales go in the next year, given the lack of new packaged software releases (other than Breath of the Wild, which will no doubt sell to many existing Wii U owners).
