New PS3 Exclusive RPG Announced: Record of Agarest War

This week's Weekly Famitsu magazine has revealed a new RPG for the PS3 titled Record of Agarest War. The game is a collaboration project between Idea Factory, Red Entertainment and Compile Heart that handle game system, script and publishing respectively.

This fantasy-oriented simulation RPG features characters which will take place across five generations. The game's world will also features five different continents and players will venture one continent at a time as each generation is born. The main hero will be succeeded by the next, though its abilities and attributes will depend on which heroine the player chooses as his partner.

As for the battle system, players will enter into the battle phase when reaching "battle points" in the field map. Like most simulation RPGs, it will use squared grid system and battles will be turn-based.

Is this in anyway related to Record Of Lodoss War on Dreamcast? Because that game sucked...:|

I don't see the big deal, are these well known developers for RPGs or has the argument over which consolehas the most diverse library actually become just a counting match?

Personally they can keep doing this. RPGS for the PS3, and 360. DS and PSP.. All I need is RPGS for the wii and I'll be happy.

Idea Factory hasn't exactly shown itself to be a "top notch" developer, let alone a top SRPG developer.

This was concept was done way back in the day by the Genesis in a game called Phantasy Star III. In that game, the hero chose a girl to marry and they would have a descendent in the next generation that takes on another journey and he chooses which girl to marry and so on.

Wow, the concept is very new to me.

RPG Developers should definitely bring newer concepts to the table.
