Yeah when it comes to games, he makes the best cutscenes in the business, but... I don't know, I just don't want another MGS4 on our hands lol.

He struck the best balance with MGS3, but I really liked how he put the story in the back seat with MGSV.

I'll proudly accept that, a lot of MGS fans are terrible lol.

I remember seeing a thread where most of them thought the intro was the best part of the game. Yeah, cinematic laying, followed by cinematic crawling, followed by scripted stealth gameplay and a lame shoot out... fucking gross lol.

Though to be fair, the loudest whiners are usually the ones who just play the MGS games as a one-off and move on. They just want their Movie Gear and then they're out. The guys who actually play these games to the fullest aren't really hung up on wanting a hundred hours of cutscenes.

Though even for the broader MGS fanbase, MGS4 was too much.

As i haven't played the previous titles i don't know what's the fuss about those long cut-scenes, is the story of those game really that good?

However, i don't mind cut-scenes at all, i watch them, but i also believe that nothing can top a great gameplay, which MGS 5 excels at.

The series has always been long in the tooth with cutscenes and dialogue, but some were worse than others.

MGS1 and MGS3 had a pretty good balance, especially MGS3. MGS2 had way too many cutscenes and codec calls, but it was still kinda reasonable. Plus these games had some good gameplay and tons of replay value, so the cutscenes didn't matter on subsequent plays.

MGS4? ALMOST 9 FUCKING HOURS OF CUTSCENES BRO. Almost double the cutscene length of MGS2 or MGS3. You actually spent more time watching cutscenes than playing in MGS4.

Is the story good? Nah. But by video game standards they were pretty entertaining and well presented. MGS2 was the most interesting and MGS3 was the most well executed.

Funny thing is, MGSV has about the same cutscene length as MGS3. It's just spread out across a much larger game. But apparently MGS fans hate playing video games.

Awesome. The music is amazing. Finally, he's no longer fettered to MGS.

Even though the trailer did tell us anything, it has me really intrigued.

I typically hate CGI trailers and have passed on all of the previous Death standing hype with first 2 trailers as I thought they were horrible with just crazy all flash no substance Kojima BS fluffage....

I DO hate fake CGI trailers to hype games but this was more about telling us the concept of the game along with the atmosphere we'd be playing in and it's simple incredible.

As long as the concept and theme remain along the same lines of what's shown in this trailer this will be an auto DAY 1 purchase for me.

Is that the dude from Hannibal the series? That's the first time that I think it's cool that there is a connection between actor and game.

But that has nothing to do with you not understanding the stories in these games. The stories in MGS are anime level tripe. They're not deep or hard to follow. My little sister can follow the stories in these games lol. It only becomes convoluted if you're trying to follow every thread and link between every character.

Is this the trailer of a movie? I want to see in-game footage, not a wannabe movie.

I understand they're trying to hype gamers up, but at least tease us with some seconds of wonderous gameplay scene. This is just like watching a trailer of some Pixar-like animation.

And I told you, it's not like I don't understand what happens in the game or the general storyline but the problem is that Kojima says one thing in one scene and than in the next scene he completely contradicts himself. You are right it's the anime level tripe and that's why I hate it. I may overlook it if it wasn't hyped by the fans of the series and the media as some of the best storylines in gaming and just treated like other games in the medium. But every time there a new MGS game coming there are articles, videos, blogs, forums spammed with MGS GREAT storyline and what happens next shit. I mean....the heck, do we even play the same games?
