Minecraft is now a Universal Game App for Windows 10

Great news! Especially for parents! Minecraft is one of the greatest stories for Indie game development and among the most popular gaming franchise in the world.

Now it's a Universal App for mobile gamers that purchased the Windows Phone/iOS/Android will be able to get it on Windows 10 Desktop/Tablets at no additional costs.

Pretty smart move. You have no idea how much influence Minecraft has on the younger generation.

Not sure if it'll be successful for giving Windows 10 an edge over its competitiors, since Minecraft is on everything already. But it'll certainly be convenient.

No pretending was needed. When you put the gamers first and foremost and practice the Live, Learn and Love philosophy great things happen such as becoming current gen 8 console leader like PS4 is.

I''m glad MS is trying to follow SONY's example this gen. I might even buy Minecraft for X1 now. Already have it for PC.

I think a special shout out is in order to SONY for making this all possible, as MS tried to change the industry on their own for their own greedy, self serving reasons and Sony saved us all.

If you are referring to the Shenmue deal, all the money raised is going to game, which is a good thing.

It would be shitty to take any money from game on a kickstarter.

This version will exist alongside the current version of MC on PC which will likely still be better because the Win10 version wont have the kind of mod support (if any) that the current version has.

Im not certain but Microsoft said something about the Win10 version existing alongside the current PC version but the new version will "take advantage of the advanced technology of Windows 10". I assume they just mean that its the DX version of MC from the consoles with XBOX controller and touch support on Win10 but it very well could be the same Java version that is being moved over and the "exist alongside" statement could just be them saying people without Win10 can still play their old version. We will have to wait and see but knowing MS it will probably be a port of the crap version from consoles.
