I’ve been playing this shit for 16 hours and all I’ve been doing is extracting prisoner Y and high-skilled soldier X from camp A in Afghanistan and going back again to camp A …but this time for extracting prisoner X and high-skilled soldier Y. how fun is that ? to do only one thing over and over. Even MGSV’s great game-play can’t save the game since it’s not challenging a bit. …. And the story, do you like Bollywood? if you do then MGSV is your game

Only played "phantom limbs" mission and tutorial. Need to play more but been playing Smash. Though the song "man who sold the world" makes it 12 / 10.

The most funny thing is that Kabul in the game is shown as a desert while it is very heavily populated city and capital of Afghanistan. I once saw a movie where Peshawar was shown as a Desert, yet it is one of the most advanced cities in Pakistan, where people often go to chase girls, drink and stuff.

On topic: Yeah,,, MGS V feels rushed in places TBH. But gameplay mechanics are pretty good.

It had a shit ton of flaws but being boring was not one of them. I think its more of an 8/10 but still one of the best games this gen because the gameplay was stealth perfection.

@the_master_race: Hahaha, probably yeah. This game should've been more straight forward, I got my doubts as soon as I heard it was going to be an open world game.

Not sure how the Soviet occupation affected Afghan's populated areas, but I wouldn't imagine a militarized area to be popping off with civilians. However the inclusion of them would have made scenarios more interesting.

I enjoyed my 80 hours with the game. Only beef with it is that since there is so much busy work Idk if it's all that replayable. Same for witcher 3

I liked it from what I played, unfortunately got caught up in Mad Max when it released, then Taken King stuff shortly after that. Then when October rolled around I went on a horror kick with Alien Isolation and the Outlast stuff, then Halo 5 and AC Syndicate released, now Rise of the Tomb Raider and Fallout 4 are coming... not that MGS5:TPP was bad, **** it's waaay better than MGS4 and it was poo, but MGS5:TPP is anything but boring, I think the field work is a lot of fun, the stealth machanics feel good and being sneaking and methodical is fun. Admittedly I didn't get to far but what I played was good. Maybe it isn't the fucking 10/10, they've always been big on less than gentle persuasion to get reviewers to see it their way at Konami but it's not a bad game by any means, not like MGS4.

This is how Kabul looks like in real life.

I go there every few years to meet my two school friends, Moosa and Eesa Khan.

Are you not going to mention the atrocious 1st chapter of the game? I thought I was basically cinematic where you had to press a button once in a while for it to move forward. I ended up skipping most of it.

That's nice. I've put in 130+ hours into the game. I've been playing it since release. It's no 10, but it managed to fulfill my expectations almost entirely, so it's an easy 9 and the best game I played this year.

There's a really easy to check whether a game has been overrated by the critics as a result of bribery. Compare the user score to the critic score on metacritic. If the discrepancy is too much then we all know who's in bed with who.

I should've mentioned many other things like the stupid credits before and after every mission or those stupid optical mines

I agree, it's basically same thing over and over again with sometimes unique missions. SPOILERS ALERT : I hated how at the end of the game, the missions are just old ones that are set of higher difficulty. Lame.

Still had fun

The game is extremely repetitive for sure. It had it's fun moments but it mostly felt like busy work. I just can't see where the 10/10 reviews are coming from. I would much prefer MGS went back to it's linear roots with emphasis on story telling and not this balloon attaching simulator it has become.

Ya...it's repetitive...should be more like GTA5 and let me go to strip clubs between missions.

Honestly, not sure what you expected other than extraction, assassination missions. For me, the thrill is in finding the most efficient ways to complete the missions.

Really? That's just a stupid criticism man. Sorry.

And again, the game is as repetitive as you make it. In other words, play differently. It allows you to.

Love the game, mechanically divine, tons of great missions in chapter 1 that are plenty replayable. Not fond of a few things: way too many side ops, no difficulty settings, wait times on items, how chapter 2 works. But the gameplay is top notch, and head and shoulders over any other triple A game this gen has had to offer in that department. Bayonetta 2 and The Wonderful 101 being exceptions.

The game lacks a story...it's just missions and control/customization...and while I do appreciate that, I just wish there was a much more immersive story

And don't worry, I'm not getting MGSV.

@the_master_race: no it's not boring, game play is really good, yeah i agree side missions are crap, but story missions are fairly good, because of the open world style game play, you can create your own unique moments. coming on to score , yes it definitely do not deserve a 10. because they screwed the main thing about the metal gear solid series and that is the story. it has got a ridiculously boring story compared to all other mgs games. i would say it deserves an 8 or 8.5.

@drinkerofjuice:

It really doesn't... Pretty much every mission consists of you running into these samey-looking bases and nailing every enemy(with really dumb AI) in head with a tranq gun and attaching balloons. That's what it boils down to. Aside from those very few missions that force you into using lethal weapons, it is pointless to play any other way. Say goodbye to your S rank if you do.

But it's not just the gameplay mechanics that are repetitive, the empty environments you visit, the helicopter rides that force you into watching the credits, the extremely dull forgettable music, the storyline that doesn't even go anywhere or have a good conclusion, the massive emphasis on base building and resource farming, the repeating of the same missions, side ops are mostly the same thing over and over, the lack of interesting boss fights.. Pretty much the whole package leads to this being one of the most boring games of the year. Previous MGS games had way more variety than this game.

I'm not gonna say the game is awful or anything, because it obviously isn't, but I hated it...

If this is a modern 10/10 title, I may be done with gaming.

It is pretty boring. I havent finished the game because I lost interest on it after spending 60 hours of me forcing me self.

Im so upset with this game.

I was so sure of my self when I said this game was gonna be 10/10 GOTY, GOAT, nothing will come close to it, a gift from the God, we arent worthy. But damn this game was such a flop. So much potential just wasted in so many areas.

The story was crap but thats not wat pissed me off, what pisses me off about the story is how terribly it was presented.

Ive played games with uninteresting stories or not so good stories but at least they were presented to you in such a shitty format and dramatization. How do you go from MGS4 and Peace Walker, to this?

I give it an 8/10 simply because I respect Kojima and know he had it extremely bad trying to get this game out.

I'll post this review yet again because it's the only good honest review of this game. The 10/10 reviews are mostly all bullshit that have been influenced and manipulated by Konami bootcamp.

@Crossel777: Man, that is what you call a real review. It's so hard these days to find an unbiased/unpaid opinion. Nobody can refute what was said in that video. Yet the butthurt, zealot fanboys have to cry in the comment section and thumbs down the video lol.

Watching that makes me want to play MGS3 and 4 again.

Thoroughly enjoying mgs5 atm. Beautifully played game. It absolutely has issues in what it's doing In an open world setting and some of its metagames are snooze fest boringboring, or just plain "I'm not doing that...." but it's got it where it counts. The gameplay and flexibility of gameplay is truly worth the investment
