Massive exclusive is being developed for the PS4.The lemmings are doomed.

Acccording to info from vgleaks  FFXV is being developed exclusively for the PS4 with sony's help.

Square-Enix has had problems in the current gen, I suspect that the company couldnt adapt Final Fantasy and other IPs to the HD era. Moreover, the first version of FF14 was a downfall, this game forced to stop the development of other games to focus in the rebuild of FF14. Really its like a new game.

Square-Enix announced Final Fantasy Versus XIII years ago and the game was lost in the limbo. Square decided to halt Versus PS3 development two years ago, but the RPG wasnt cancelled, why? Two years ago, Square-Enix moved the game to PS4 and Sony got in the project.

Actually Sony is co-developing the game with Square-Enix, therefore, this game will be exclusive on PS4. Square renamed Versus to FF15 in the middle of this process. Sonys studios are helping SE with FF15 assets among other tasks.

We hinted this PS4 exclusive one month ago, but we couldnt speak freely about this topic. Now, its all that we can say.

Exclusives need to die. We need games to be played by as many people as possible. Would love to have a generaiotn where PC and PS4 gamers cna enjoy Halo 5 and Xbox and Ps4 gamers can enjoy Rome Total War, etc, etc.

Games should be playable accross whatever platform we choose to play them in.

Well SE did come up and Say that a new Final Fantasy will be announced at E3 with Sony so this kind of makese sense

well at least it wasn't cancelled, one thing is for certain, I WILL PLAY THIS GAME.

Depends on who is interested in the series, i personally dont give a giant two crap about it but my GF n her sisters love the series so i can see some appeal. Getting Call of Duty to be PS4 exclusive would be a :o

Why would they abandon the box platform? As far as I know the last FF sold decent on MS's system.
Makes no sense unless Sony whined so hard for loosing one of it's most popular exclusives.

If I remember correctly FF XIII sold over 4 million on PS3 and around 1.5 million? on 360. SE isn't missing much especially if they get Sony's backing. SE said they were overwhelmed by 7th generation development so, this is a good situation for them. They're going with the platform the majority of fans would buy their games on anyway.

I think it was more than that... but still even if your numbers are true, wouldn't it be better to sell 5.5m in total instead of just 4m? Do not say that the porting costs are way too high to justify the potential loss of 1.5m copies.

If this rumor is true and Sony are helping SE, no, it wouldn't be better as it helps them financially as well as with development. Namco made Tales Of Vesperia a timed exclusive for 360 because Microsoft paid fot some of the development therefore taking off the financial strain of developing the game. Namco had a timed exclusivity contract with Microsoft though. I doubt Sony would help SE for a timed exclusive. Not to mention FF Versus XIII was still a PS3 exclusive as it was last known.

Last I checked this FFvsXIII (now FFXV) has always been a PS3 exclusive, just because it was delayed till the PS4 doesn't make that ownage.

It also sold over 2 million in Japan where it was sold exclusively on the PS3.

Excluding those; in the rest of the world it was 2-2.5 million on the PS3, and 1.5-2 million on the 360. That's not that big of a difference considering the exclusivity of the main franchise on Playstation platforms for the prior 13 years to its release.

Square won't abandon the Xbox unless there is enough involvement from Sony. 

Sounds very exciting, hoping it's Versus 13 but changed to FF15.  I still love Final Fantasy, enjoyed 13 too :3

Even though there is massive sarcasm in the title of this thread, this could be cool.  If I get the game I'm getting it for PC of course though.

I don't think a loss like this hurts Microsoft. For one I doubt Microsoft release the new system in Japan and if they do they are just throwing money away. And 360 gamers are probably not into JRPG's like PS3 gamers. It is a name and a good pick-up for Sony, but for average 360 gamers, it will not effect them in any way.
