"Bioware’s Mass Effect franchise will be expecting a fourth sequel added to its list of games and fans have been on overdrive following its announcement last year. Despite the hype, a release date for Mass Effect 4 is still unannounced.

This is not the case a problem for EuroGamer which revealed that Mass Effect 4 will look to arrive late this year. The website suggest that the release window will be open from the fourth quarter 2014 up until mid 2015.

Such a timeframe was provided by an anonymous Bioware team member. After all, it was 2 years ago when production for Mass Effect 4 started. The anonymous person was later identified as Mike Gamble.

Mass Effect 4 will look to offer players a fresh new storyline centred on a brand new protagonist. There is also a chance for it to have more playable races. The axing of Commander Shepard we have all played and love opens up new possibilities for the highly-popular franchise.

I think this information goes along with the tradition set forth by the original trilogy in terms of development time and release window... the question system wars, are you ready to play another glorious space opera with a whole new narrative and characters to the quintessential gaming franchise of Gen7... possible for THIS YEAR?!?! My body is ready.... Mass Effect 4 will be your 2014 GOTY... you heard it here first :P

from my research it appears as though the team at Bioware montreal (who is making ME4, they made ME3 MP, which was quite good) is borrowing ideas from the new DA game... that will be interesting. I think youre right though, feb/march of 2015 sounds more reasonable.

Man I am excited, I have read reports of bioware making great progress on ME4 and they have an awesome demo ready to go, so I really hope we get it this year, but I'm not counting on it.

I definitely expect a 2015 release date. I seriously hope we do get it this year.

I like when Mass Effect releases around the Uncharted window... When I get tired of watching Uncharted I can PLAY mass effect #systemwars

They won't release Dragon Age AND Mass Effect in the same year. Expect a year to a year and a half delay between both.

they always release early in the year so my guess will be a showing at E3 this year with a march 2015 release

EA may be a shitty company but they think along the lines of all other companies. They won't release two of their biggest titles within one or two quarters of each other. Especially when they're both action RPGs and HUGELY awaited for. Just like Ubisoft has delayed Watch Dogs just enough so that the sales of AC4 wouldn't be hindered.

i just hope they do a game worthy of the lore in the mass effect universe and don't make bs endings like mass effect 3.

It will most likely continue to deliver the mass Effect hybrid Rpg/shooter experience

I'd love to see the game open up more as it did in ME1... though something tells me I was in the minority, wishing to have the ffeeling of expansiveness in my milkey way. ME1 is the best game in the series because of this.

I can't wait to scan more planets.

quiet you! remember in ME2 when they patched in increased speed for planet scanning? that was like BioWare saying, yeah, this par tof the game kinda sucks... haha. Id like to see a return of player collected resources a la ME1 on open vast and unexplored planets.... aint no one gonna tell me that can't be done on new hardware.... Make it rich bioware or face my wrath.

I'd really like if they brought the mako or something like it back. Me1 was definitely my favorite game in the series because of that reason, even if the planets were super small.

I couldn't agree more... it wasnt just that the planets were mostly empty and had little variety other than foliage etc... it was that the Mako sections augmented the expansiveness of the universe bioware created... the following two games, while being well done from an introverted aspect, narrative/combat etc, were lame ducks when it came to the extroverted feelings the milkey way had in ME1. I whole heartedly miss that.

Also I liked the reapers much more when they were still a mystery, I feel they really over explained and expanded on them to the point that they became much less interesting especially in the following games. Mass effect 1 handled them perfectly.

The whole concept behind them was cool, but I feel the execution was flawed. Me1 just has such a different feel from 2 and 3.

Everytime she showed up I just thought she looked so gross, The whole character model was wtfbad, lol she has boobs guys and miranda has a big ass/10.

Independent Bioware > EA bioware... But i digress. My hope was that the reapers would never need to be explained and simply act as the benevolent harvesters of the galaxy... its not that I even needed Shepard to wipe them all out as much as foil their plans. THere were definitely some questionable narrative choices by the end, but lets hope they're refocused for ME4.

3 was a great game, the DLC was really good too. It was just the ending that was an absolute horror show.

agreed... 3 was extremely well supported, the MP was fantastic with oodles of community interaction and free content, the Single Player was a really refreshing mixture of both previous games while still achieving its own identity... the ending is the ending... honestly, IM not sure there is an ending that would make everyone happy... that certainly wasnt it. I did like the shepard breath in the good ending and I loved the buzz aldrin scene about the shepard... all in all though, it was a fantastic game

Only 2 years for a mass effect game? I smell rushed product ala ME3 ending... Ala E f#cking A.

DA3 for 2014 and ME4 for 2015 is what will happen but if the game isn't open it'll be very disappointing
