Irrelivant. They'll crack it sooner or later. Since it seems to be the same one sused in FIFA, it'll be useless when done.

Inb4 stupid comments like

"good. pc gamer only pirate their games, which is why nobody brings them to pc. Then the beggar race makes a petition, only to pirate it. Keep up the good fight devs."

I want the developers to release the sales figures. This is probably the most intrusive DRM we've seen yet.

How intrusive is it? Do you need to make some sort of account, is it always-on? Remind me to never buy this game if so.

Pointless gimmicks . Won't be surprised if this DRM is the reason of stability issues. If your game isn't good , no amount of DRM is going to force people to buy it. If it is good, nothing can stop it from selling well (apart from bad marketing). Instead of wasting your budget on DRM, they should've hired Q&A team to test the game properly before releasing it. Games will always be pirated. Hell even AC: Unity is leaked for PS4 .

Fifa 15 uses this DRM as well, doesn't it? Still not cracked after 40 days.

Does it have similar performance issues as Lord of The Fallen?

We might know the answer to that if anyone actually played FIFA on PC.

This.

With the sheer quantity of games coming out these days, assuming they aren't MP-only and/or will have a lasting community that doesn't die out within the first couple months (*cough* like every Sony first party exclusive *cough*), there is no point in buying games first day for full price. I've bought most of my games in the past couple years for under $10 each, and in many cases, I've bought groups of 5-10 games for as little as $5 (thank you Bundle Stars).

and this is the reason why this game will be a sales failure on pc

"this solution is supposedly the main cause behind several in-game bugs and crashes that are affecting users’ gameplay experience"

Do they think is a good idea to give all this troubles to legal buyers just to avoid some pirates ( that most likely cracked or not will not buy the game )?

Since Divinity isn't region locked you can get it on trading sites or places like G2A for $15-$20 already. I traded three TF2 keys for a copy a couple of weeks ago.

Thank you Valve for regional pricing on Steam!

Guess how long will it take FIFA to go at €5 price?

Espesially if its not cracked?

FIFA 14 is still at €19 on origin...

It is a LAST GEN engine a PS360 port....

All while FIFA 15 is out and its brand new engine a PS4/Xbone port.

FIFA 13 a 2 years old SPORTS game is at €10 on origin.

How long has it been since Elder Scrolls Online launched?

7 months?

Still at €55...

Αny game thats NOT pirated DOESNT drop in price on steam. At least drops VERY VERY VERY SLOWLY...

Guess how much Guild Wars2 costs? €20 until 9 November. 2 years old game. Pirated? NOPE

So If any game doesnt get pirated (BIG IF) i can bet that it wont go down fast in price but slow...very slow.

@True_Gamer_: And those are MMOs. Games that have a set fanbase already and constantly make money after you actually buy the game. So they don't feel forced to drop the price after the standard 8 weeks.

From the makers of good ol' SecuROM, Denuvo introduces the next generation of DRM, with 25% less in-game performance than previous records!

I wanted this game but i'm avoiding it due to the horrible optimization (believed to be because of this DRM) on the PC, console versions perform horribly as well apparently.

if they do actually prevent piracy though isn't that a bit different? its incredibly dumb when a intrusive DRM like Uplay doesn't do jack shit to prevent piracy, but if it actually works, then its a bit more justifiable.

Its also not intrusive at all (I have the game on PC), you dont need to login to anything or be online to play it. It runs ok for me but not great, I'll have to take peoples word that the DRM is to blame for slowdowns. The game does look very good, it almost seems like Nvidia Physx is turned on by default without an option to turn it off, if that is the case it would explain the slow performance.

Not saying its the ideal solution but if the DRM actually does keep people from pirating the game at least the devs/publisher can justify its existence.

In Fifa's case, there is no Steam version (because EA is dumb).

They always end up cracking the DRM. For those guys its like a challenge. I think its a shame if this DRM comes at the expense of game quality though.

Is this an always online DRM? If it is then surely the publishers have learned their lesson from doing that crap already (Ubisoft, EA). It may be effective against piracy (good thing) but it punishes the consumers who do actually buy the game by preventing them from playing a single player game, they have paid for, when the internet is not available.

Publishers have lost sales, support services inundated with calls and tickets (costing lots of money) suffered DDoS attacks (stopping legit players from playing the game and exasperating the support problem) and probably worse because of always on DRM's. Unbisoft certainly learned that lesson the hard way with Assassin's Creed.

It's not. It's performance-harming, framerate-slaying, game-crashing DRM.

You don't need to be always online to play the game, but you also don't play the game when you play the game. (Okay, massive exaggeration here)

are you sure its the DRM messing up the performance? The way your cloak moves and the particle effects seem very Physx-y and that would explain the slowdowns. I've had 0 crashes in the 5.5 hours I've played. I'm just about maxing the game with a GTX670/i5-2500k and the performance seems reasonable given how good the game looks.

Once again DRM is hurting legit players while people who pirate get or will get a trouble free playtime. I find it mind boggling that publishers think its a good idea to load up games with DRM that **** over people who have legally bought their copy.

Not going to buy this game anyways from what I seen. Wouldn't be surprise if it isn't cracked for months as I recall splinter cell chaos theory took over a year for it to be cracked although I can't remember if it had any similar issues like this game. If they actually made a DRM where it doesn't hinder performance than I'm find with that.

I find it amazing that people still talk about DRM as something related to Piracy, and not something related to used games.

Didn't the XBOX teach you anything?

Honestly, once I disabled the Nvidia Turbulence setting, the game runs really well. Getting 40-60fps on a mix of high/very high with a 670/i5-2500k which is pretty mid-range hardware these days.

I've heard reports that people who disable that setting have fixed their crashes, though I never had any to start with, just some FPS slowdowns in places which went away after I turned Turbulence off.

these cracking groups love challenging DRM to crack. so i dunno why companies even bother. People are not gonna buy it or they will, most of the downloaders are people who wouldnt buy it to begin with.

Bad DRM that makes a game buggy or screws over people usually makes those people download the game they may have bought in the first place. So it has that opposite effect they are trying to prevent.

The framerate is the spottiest thing for me.

I haven't had any crashes but there are some minor bugs i've experienced. Otherwise I think it's great, the article does note that the dev is going to patch the problems.
I just hope it fixes frame rate stuff more than anything.

It will be cracked at some point. It will be a challenge that someone will just have to be the first to do.
