Sorry. I have to get this off my chest. But RDR is overrated and LA Noire is a bit underrated.

I just felt LA Noire had a much better story, was much more innovative, and it came together as a whole. I was finally glad to see an action game that made you use your brain, a character game where characters are actually expressive, and a Rockstar game that's actually not needlessly violent or immature.

Red Dead was a LOL drive-and-shoot and a press-buttons-till-you-get-cutscene game. RDR sucked AAAss

While I loved LA Noire, and I agree it's a little underrated, RDR is the better game overall.

Well, team bondi is making another game, Whore of the Orient, but the development isn't going so well.

Also, I'm sure that LA Noire being as good as it was had in part to do with Rockstar assisting them. Which isn't the case for Whore of the Orient.

The pre-alpha showed some shooting and running. Those really weren't LA Noire's strong parts. I do hope it does include the stuff LA Noire did well: investigating and interrogating.

Can't remember if it was about development itself, but whenever I saw an article or news story about their new game it was almost always something negative.

I hope they can make another great game without Rockstar, I hope it won't involve shooting too much.

LA Noire is better than **** all. It had a decent first quarter of a game and then everything was rinse repeat with a broken core mechanic in the interrogations.

It had nice facial animations and some decent investigations but that's about it.It was such a chore to finish that game

Holy shit... No, not now, not ever... I'd say with confidence that raw undead nightmare was better than the lot of LA noir and That's just the expansion.

I actually don't think there are many games that disappointed more than la noir this gen... Gta4 and gran tourismo 6 notwithstanding....

LA noir perfected the art of dead city, lifeless gameplay and high promises with little to no payoff in execution.

@drekula2:

How the hell did you even think this was a good comparison to being with?

I love me some LA Noire, but RDR was awesome.

I still cannot believe that the PC is yet to get it. I can only imagine some of the awesome mods that would make this game into a masterpiece.

They did an excellent job designing the city in LA Noire, and it had a great story, but there's not all that much to do besides the story in LA Noire, there's an awfully lot of sandbox without a lot to keep one occupied.

@seanmcloughlin: the last mission was excellent... If they made the first third and kept the last mission I could've enjoyed it as a 6 hour game... The rest was as you mentioned.... Dull as dull can be in a video game.

Noire has some nice and neat moments, but it's forgettable in the long run. RDR is Rockstars best and superior in all aspects IMO.

I have no idea why they went with a big city sandbox type route in LA Noire. It would've done far better as a linear game. Driving around was just annoying, the only fun part of the game was investigating and interrogating people.

Why? So you can waste time driving from place to place? It's bearable when there's dialogue going on but otherwise it's just boring.

Pretty much, I was like halfway and thought "Please be over" and then realised I had like 2 more divisions of the department to get through.

Disagree.

LA Noire had some nice ideas but poorly executed, and despite its size & design, the city was pretty dull. Also, the game dragged as the missions followed the same structure (mainly the homicide cases) and story didn't pick up til near the end.

RDR also had its dull moments like Mexico and the first few hours of the game, but overall, it had a lot of fun with it. The story was great, and unlike LA Noire, it had a lot of optional stuff.

One of the best, and most underrated games this generation. L.A. Noire was awesome and fuk anyone who says otherwise. (not really).

While I wouldnt put it above RDR, it was still a breath of fresh air and its a shame that Team Bondi is gone (or at least R* cut ties with them). At least R* still holds the IP and one can only hope they revisit it for a sequel. Would love to play N.Y. Noire.

YOU may feel that way, but it doesn't mean its true. Though you are right that Red Dead basically did suck up the AAA's - so many good reviews for that game - including GameSpot naming Red Dead GOTY in 2010

L.A Noire shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Red Dead. RDR was a masterpiece one of the top 10 games of the gen L.A Noire was a dissapointment in my eyes.

I loved LA Noire but it should have ended soooooo much sooner than it did..... I took a 6 month break from the game before finishing it because it got soooo repetitive. But for what it was, it was wonderful. Kind of niche marketed as a mainstream experience IMO.

LA Noire is pure nonsense of the highest order. The story is absolutely before it builds to an ending that doesn't stand strong if you even put some thought into it for more than 5 seconds. The gameplay aspect of the game is borderline nonexistent. There is no real impunity for being an incompetent detective(being scolded by a videogame character? truly the struggle is real), and the game borderline gives you the answers all the time. The tech is impressive, but even that aspect of the game was a detriment to the game. The tells were ridiculously exaggerated.

If La Noire had disposable grinding sandbox stuff like in RDR, I can guarantee you, I wouldn't otherwise finish it. It was an amazing experience despite its limitations. Besides it's the only game ever (apart from Alan Wake) that my wife played and liked it! Too many RDR and Rockstar fanboys unable to take down their fanboy googles and step outside their comfort zones.

Played both multiple times and personally I think RDR is leaps and bounds ahead of LA Noire. It's quite hard to compare the two really as I found RDR to be a true sandbox game, compared to LA Noire which was rather one dimensional and scripted. I found myself driving to the same old destinations (police station - crime scene - apprehend suspect - back to police station) time and time again and it got real stale, real fast. RDR on the other-hand is IMO a masterpiece. It kept me interested for days and days. I just loved the side missions and spent a lot of my time hunting, collecting, capturing bounty's and treasure seeking before even attempting the single player. One of my games of the gen.

Oh sure they're both open world but they try to do something different that it is hard to compare them. LA Noire could've easily not included an open world but since it was Rockstar studio it apparently had to.

LA Noire is a detective game. RDR is an open world, western.
