Oh man, I've been away from System Wars for too long. Ugh.
1. Who cares if it's AAAe, AAAAe, AAe, etc. 8.5 is a great score and it's worth checking out the game.
2. 'you can't die' is balanced by collecting beads to gain a higher 'medal' reward, you can try to complete each level by retaining/collecting the most amount of beads
3. 'It's only a 6 hour campaign' - It's only six if you do the absolute minimum and complete the game. I don't know about how many of you guys just blast through the single player, but I've started to go for 100% completion in a lot of games I get. I did it for SMG2 and Metroid: Other M, doing so in both extended game play time for me and both didn't feel like a chore to complete.
After reading a few reviews, the same can be assumed about Kirby's Epic Yarn - There's lots to do after the single player campaign.
[QUOTE="kweeni"]I always thought it was a DS game untill I saw that review....lol...Willy105Did you think the same for LBP and Shadow Complex? Those aren't by Nintendo. It's fairly reasonable that someone who heard about this Kirby game could think it's on the DS, seeing as DS has had many Kirby games.
[QUOTE="kweeni"]I always thought it was a DS game untill I saw that review....lol...Willy105Did you think the same for LBP and Shadow Complex? Dude I didn't mean to bash the game. I just don't play nintendo games and don't keep track of them so I don't know much about this game. That's why I didn't know what platform it was on... Sorry if I hurt your feelings...
So SMG2 gets a 10 but this gets an 8.5? I don't understand the reviewer's mentality. Big names get big scores I guess. The whole reviewing scene is pretty corrupt. xsubtownerxI didn't realize that Kirby wasn't a major Nintendo franchise. You know what might help you in understanding the reviewer's mentality? Reading the reviews. Give it a shot sometime.
Great Score. I was not excepting Kirby to score so high. I was excepting 7.0-7.5 from the things I saw. Not bad at all; over looks like its going to be a great game.

*Snake Eyes* I think I remember you. Though you probably had a different avatar--people should just be boring and keep their avatars consistent throughout. I swear, most of the time I usually just recognize posters by their avatar XD.

Haziq has a new avatar like every week.[QUOTE="xsubtownerx"]So SMG2 gets a 10 but this gets an 8.5? I don't understand the reviewer's mentality. Big names get big scores I guess. No... just no. Not only are the games obviously nothing alike, but on Metacritic AW has an 83 while Kirby's Epic Yarn has a 90.Alan Wake=Kirby's Epic Yarn.
HelloMoto56
Not really the games are in different genres and on different consoles when Gamespot reviews a game they judge it based on one the standards for the particular system that it is on and then two they also judge it based on other games in that its genre.Alan Wake=Kirby's Epic Yarn.

I believe you own the Japanese version that was released a few days ago.Only played an hour or so of it so far, but its very unique and very engrossing...

goblaa
At GS maybe.
Most site Alan Wake < Kirby's Epic Yarn.
comparing alan wake and kirby is just stupid one is a survival horror game the other one is a kids oriented platformer they have different styles, different charms and are not in any way comparable.[QUOTE="xsubtownerx"]So SMG2 gets a 10 but this gets an 8.5? Wait, so SMG is "challenging" ? :?In the later levels it could be considered challenging and SMG2 is challenging after you get past 60 stars. SMG is VERY challenging. Get all 242 stars and tell me its an easy game.[QUOTE="xsubtownerx"][QUOTE="princeofshapeir"] Apparently, games devoid of challenge don't deserve AAA scores. SMG2 is even more difficult than SMG. Comparing Kirby's Epic Yawn to SMG2 is really just silly.

LOL at the complainers in the comments.
Whenever some arty indie game has no element of challenge and is all about the experience and the visuals, it's fine, but the moment Nintendo tries to do the same thing, "WTF YOU CAN'T DIE, WHERE'S THE GAME????!??!1"
