Is the Wii U the worst console of the century?

The wii u is a pretty awful console. There really isn't much of a reason to purchase one if your tired of Nintendo's 2 games: Mario and Zelda. The system is supposed to be a first party console but it only has mario and a few flops. The system has no 3rd party support. The controller is laughable, and the system is full of 360 esque internals. I cant think of one reason the wii u doesn't suck. The wii u might even be the most underwhelming console in history.

As of right now, it's by far the best console of its generation. That will probably change soon.

I don't agree at all. Both Wii U and Bone are underwhelming from a hardware point of view but when you consider the price of Bone compared to Wii U and the fact that MS's first party is dog shit compared to Nintendo's, it's pretty clear which is the worst console of the generation.

I own one and enjoy more than just Mario and Zelda, therefore your theory is invalid.

Sigh.... Gotta love this mentality. The Wii U is as next gen as PS4 and Xbone. Sure, not nearly as powerful, but it is, nonetheless, next gen.

Actually, i think that title might go to the Ouya.

It just seems like a box designed to be sold to game developers, rather than consumers. IMHO, it's supposed to let indie devs what they could do on a home console without the need to pay for the expensive licenses that Sony and Microsoft charge. Because of this, it couldn't really take off because it wasn't a proper console. Just something along the lines of a sandbox for aspiring devs. :/

Sega Saturn, Atari 5200, Atari Jaguar, Virtual Boy, and the plethora of obscure consoles that were beaten by the Atari 2600 were all worse. You're just being a drama queen.

The Ouya has sold over 3 million by that last thread. Said to expect over 4 by the holidays and now that the holidays are over all we need os for ouya to announced their numbers above 4.5 million and then this forum will be a hurricane.

The CPU in the WiiU pushes above it's weight. In terms of raw power the CPU for the WiiU is most likely stronger than the CPU's in the last gen consoles,but you have to figure out the CPU's weaknesses and strengths

It isn't anywhere close to the worst console of the century. Anyone who states it is, is being hyperbolic and has no knowledge of video game history. The console also has more than Mario and The Legend of Zelda. Pikmin, Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, Sonic Lost World, Zombi-U, to name a few.

I hope the Wii U burns in hell for making so many GS users cry themselves to sleep. Not to mention the disturbances it caused in the space-time continuum, rendering users unable to realize that it's a current-gen console.

@speak_low: It's worse than that. I mean what you've said, that's pretty bad. That's almost as bad as it gets. But reading the developers diary posted here a few days back: They've made it even more difficult for third party than they had to. The kits are awful, they didn't properly negotiate with the developers, and the sales are guaranteed to be in the toilet even if they manage to release a great game against all the odds because the Nintendo fanbase is only loyal to Nintendo.

@treedoor: PS3 ended up on a high with decent sales and great great support. Wii U has at this moment in time, neither, and nothing to suggest this will change. All PS3 had was a very poor start.

Google videogame consoles and take a look through the history of such devices. Wii U is still in the upper half.

For its expectations though, yes, Wii U is sub-par.

@treedoor: Late 2006 through mid-2008 was a disaster, but then it grew into a must have console... doubt the Wii U will ever see the same turn around.

Bet TC has never used the controller for longer than at a kiosk. The console will have its games, sell some units, but not to the level of the other 2.
