They came back from having no games and a ridiculously over-priced console.  The PS3 is definitely a low point for the Playstation brand, but they did manage to make it a good console with a good library.

They didnt outsell 360 before the next generation started. Thats all that matters.

Micro$oft won the battle but not the war..They release the 360 one year early and it was cheap. Dont let me get started how they want to play catch up with the PS3 hardware by releasing another model with HDMI and etc ..The only reason why i say the xbox360 was selling better is because  of that and half of all people who own the 360 have their system crap out on them because the red lights of death.They have a 60 percent failure rate the 360 system.And you know what xbox fanboys do? Go out and buy another one.. Like it or not  the PS3 made  comeback and i never see a system do that before..

Id say it's more because of Sony.  They launched at a high price point and took out BC leaving there PS2 fanbase no reason to swtich over.  I fear that may be a problem next gen as well unless they get there act together.

PC thumps all of them, but if we're talking about consoles and from the gamer's perspective, I agree that PS3 is in 1st place since it's all about games unlike other crappy consoles.

Even Sony admited they failed in many aspects with PS3. Which is good news, since they seem to be doing everything right with Playstation 4, picking the best from consoles like Playstation 1 and Xbox 360.

Maybe you've forgotten the fact the PS3 still managed to sell at the outrageous launch price thanks to the fact it was playstation, a HUGE name in gaming.

Or the fact that it finished the generation in last place in sales (now theyre neck and neck, even Tretton doesn't now) and that its still last in games. In fact between the Wii and 360, what does the PS3 win at? Best Blu Ray collection?

the only thing the PS3 did was make Bluray a thing.

Xbox 360 and Wii did most of the innovating.

Easily the biggest comeback in the gaming industry.
