[QUOTE="Stevo_the_gamer"]I thought Halo Reach was... FAR better than Halo 3. :?Stringerboy

Seriously dude? It was worse in every concieveable way.

The campaign felt bland with boring and underdeveloped characters, and the multiplayer was runied with the armour abilities. Don't even get me started on armour lock; giving invincibility to every player at spawn is a terrible design choice.

Agreed Halo 3 was better in ever way, Reach felt a bit casual

from what ive played, Reach seemed more polished and content heavy than H3 ... it was pretty decent, i don't why it died so quick.

ghostwarrior786

its dying because bungie refuse to acknowledge the fact that majority of the people who played Halo 3 hate Halo reach. I dont understand why they havn't released a title update to address all the issues.

I'm not sure about you, but I wouldn't call ~600,00+ players daily a death.

FYI - Bungie has done numerous matchmaking updates since Reach launch.

I wonder how much time these 'reviewers' actually spend on multiplayer and if they have experience in the previous installment because bungie has made a radical depature from the tried and tested and clearly people are not happy. just compare halo 3 daily usage with halo reach and you will see what i mean

R3FURBISHED

In the last 24 hours:

671,545 Players Online

1,519,252 Games Played

...I don't remember what Halo 3 was pulling in daily(in say 2008 ) nor what Halo 2 was pulling in daily way back in, say, 2005.

halo 3 used to have more than 1 million players online and that was 2 years after its release. halo reach has put a huge dent in the halo name

So what you're saying is my opinion for halo reach being an disappointment is wrong? Because it it scored an 9+ and was nominated for afew awards?

R3FURBISHED

If someone was disappointed in Reach than they have either been disappointed in the Halo series for a while now or just picked up Reach and hadn't touched the Halo series at all until Reach (which one would think that it would be better because of that as we are dealing with one of the most refined and content-laden shooters on the market)

considering the fact that no halo game before it has had bloom and the players have become customed to having bullets hit their target why wouldn't they be outraged. i play halo because it is different to other shooters but now with bloom its like every other shooter.

Not even remotely close. It's a fantastic game. I can understand a little disappointment but if you honestly believe it's one of the most disappointing games ever then you either have only recently began gaming or have hardly played any games at all.

to a certain extent i agree but think about it this way its not like cod players only play cod. if halo was good they will play that also but i think the main reason for the decrease in populatity has to do with halo reach game mechanics

Two years after Halo 3 came out it was not pulling in a million players a day. I know, the stats interested me and I checked regularly. Halo 3 was not pulling in 1 mill even a few months after launch. Not to mention it's pop counter was less accurate than Reach's.

Actually, it was. CoD4 was when CoD 4 became ultra popular which came only months after Halo 3's release. I think CoD4 actually first dethroned Halo 3 as the most played game on Live back in April 2008 and they kinda constalty swapped that number 1 spot for a while after.

No, actually it didn't. Halo 2 wasn't as popular as Halo 3 or Reach. In fact, Halo 3 surpassed the total number of Matches Halo 2 ever had less than two years after it's release, which is quite the accomplishment considering Halo 2 never had near the same ammount of competition Halo 3 had in it's prime.

Singleplayer was far better then Halo 3. Multiplayer I feel was a step back.

Still though. I have a sealed copy of KZ3 I've yet to play. Maybe i'll see which is the worse sequel.

I don't have a problem with Reach, but as an avid fan of the former Halo's, it irks me to no end that they took the competitive aspect of it away. The campaigns were always solid, but never the reason I bought the game. The multiplayer just completely left behind everything that made Halo so fun. A great party system, a great leveling system, balanced gameplay, and tactical gameplay. I don't think it helped that a large part of the hardcore online gamers moved from Halo to Call of duty, but on might be able to point to the changes Reach made to the reason so many people did this.

Well, there was brief period in 09 after ODST came out that Halo 3 was hitting around a million players in a day, but obviously thats because ODST came with a Halo 3 multiplayer disc. Besides that Halo 3's population was around 600k for most of the year.

Considering hundreds of thousands still play I really thing you're just exagerating it. I'll agree that not everyone is fond of bloom or armor abilities I think it's being blown of of proportion by some. It's still a great game. I think we should at least respect that Bungie actually took some risks instead of phoning it in and just created Halo 3 with better graphics.

I thought Halo Reach was... FAR better than Halo 3. :?Stevo_the_gamer
I have to agree that Reach was better than Halo 3. Halo 3 MP might have been a bit better but my god the SP was awful. (imo :P) Reach campaign was much better. It was still pretty meh though.

Anyways that honor goes to DMC2 TC.

Actually I change my answer to Dynasty Warriors 6.

Here's a question for most of you since you like going by what "reviewers" say... Did any of you think GTA4 deserved a 10? Did you think The Adventures of Zelda: Twilight Princess deserve an over-all 9.5 and up? Did any of you think L.A. Noir deserve the scores and praise it got...? You see where I'm going with this... Just because some guy says these games are "god" and post a good score for em doesn't automatically make them a "must buy" for everyone! I think what TC is trying to get at is that, Halo: Reach didn't deserve the over-all score it received and I'd have to agree... It's not that the game was bad (IMO) but, it most certainly wasn't 9.5> material... If you remember correctly, Halo: ODST received just as much critical praise and that game (in all due respect), didn't even deserve the "Halo" title... My point is, if you're going to experience something, experience it through your own judgement, and not experience it through the eyes of some "reviewer"... What most of you need to realize is, these guys are just as human, biased, and opinionated as any of us... I would even go as far as to say that, most of these reviewers, review games and give them over-all good scores, based solly on the "Name Brand"... Remember Doom 3???

This thread needs more Crysis 2. I could honestly right an essay on why the first was so much better.

Halo 3 was a bigger disappointment. Had nothing on Halo 2.

Ultima 8, Mount and Blade: With Fire and Sword, Deus Ex: Invisible War, Thief 3, Civilization 5, DMC2 would like to have a word with you, I am sure there are plenty of more disappointing sequels, but those are at thet top of my head.

For the record, Mount and Blade: With Fire and Sword isn't really a sequel. Most disappointing.....well in recent memory Dragon Age 2......by far. Can't believe it was Bioware that released that piece of crap.

It's probably the most overrated sequel ever but coming from the most overrated franchise ever that's not saying much.
