kuraimen likes Twilight confirmed.

I somehow new kuraimen would make an appearance sooner or later.

Twilight's awesome.

I didn't think it was that good. Cortona gets left behind big whoop, I never cared about her. She's just a computer program.

While I personally saw nothing to cry about with the ending, I thought it did a good job setting up for Halo 5 or whatever.

It's true. Those games atleast get creative with the way they tell their stories. Halo 4's story is entirely straightforward and simple.

Where the hell is Liquid, Darklink, and champ when you need em.

You've got to be fvcking kidding me. CoD, creative?

Please, please stop.

Some of the COD games IMO had good SP campaigns, WAW, MW1 and MW3. I liked those.

I can agree with this, it'll be interesting where they go next.

For sure. It's not that Halo 4's story was bad but there was way too much love for it in this thread. It's not insulting to Halo to remind everyone what real excellence in storytelling is. Halo isn't even about the story.

Yeah. Yeah, it kind of was.

Just saw the ending on YouTube, didnt really think the ending was that great, it was short and he should have at least showed his face to her ( did he ever show his face ever?).. anyways i'll try to watch all cutscenes soon from the start.

#-40 Posted by mems_1224 (48591 posts) -

I pray that you guys are joking.

Master_ShakeXXX

Why? :?

Because the story is cliche as f*ck. Anybody with the slightest experience in movies, books, video games, life, whatever, has seen it done before countless times (and done much better). Chief didn't even have any semblance of character up until Halo 4 and now we're just supposed to buy the idea that him and Cortana have some kind of deep and meaningful relationship? Get outa here. It's so ridiculously forced and poorly executed.

so what? just because its a cliche doesnt mean it was bad. clearly chief feels that he failed his mission. since the first halo his job has been to protect her and vice versa

watch the legendary ending.

I never caught the difference, to be honest, having beaten it on Legendary and then going back to it on Normal via the theater. What is it?

So....is this really a thread? I mean is this serious? Have I been away from System Wars too long? Is this common? If so...you set the bar for greatest love story low....really low, did you have to dig a hole to fit where you set the bar?

when they lift the helmet at the end. thats the only difference. in the normal ending it just goes to a black screen

Serious response: The ending was exceptionally corny.

Bungie got how to portray a relationship between the two of them and communicate how much they meant to each other without making it weird.

343 did not.

If the event wasn't significant,
and wasn't dealing with the death of a character I liked,
I probably would have laughed.

#-30 Posted by Killzonage (397 posts) -
It was not the best, but in terms of FPS games it is better than a lot out there. I love the KZ franchise, but even I can admit, KZ3s ending was terrible.

If you beat it on legendary it shows Chief's eyes, nothing more.

No. It's because apparently some of these people have no idea what quality storytelling is. Silent Hill 2, Planescape Torment, Nier, Bioshock, etc, those games have quality storytelling. Hell, even Black Ops 1 and 2 have better storytelling. Halo 4's is incredibly basic stuff.

To The Moon beat all of those though.

Oh no I youtubed the ending. I only finished the first half on legendary, and honestly don't really want to bother with the rest beyond wanting Chief's armor for MP. Game is Bungie tier in that department.

Are we talking about
the Chief staring at Earth
at the end? I loved Halo 4 and though it was a bit sad but I certainly didn't come close to crying. The best love story told this generation was in To the Moon. I shed a tear in that game.

It's true. Those games atleast get creative with the way they tell their stories. Halo 4's story is entirely straightforward and simple.

Actually, I'd have to agree with the Black Ops thing. the storytelling is pretty on point. It's the actual story it tries to tell that's the problem.

There is no reason to yell, you being wrong is an expectation.

As far as it stands it might as well have been a Bungie game, because on a purely gameplay level nothing really separates the two. The kicker is presentation stuff, and on that side 343 is a little bit better. The only thing I could see being slightly different is that 343 through in some more guided scenarios than Bungie.

MP wise it comes with enough upsides that it makes up for it.

As it stands one is a glorified one hit wonder(bungie) is a f*cking tribute band to that one hit wonder.

Call of Duty has always been better at it. It's just usually some by the book poor man's Saving Private Ryan stuff before it went into Bad Boys 2 territory.

Not wrong. Just stupid biased and I have no problems admitting it. I'll be honest, I preferred Bungie's overall presentation overall. I mean, 343's game nailed the graphics, but otherwise... yeah. Liked what Bungie did better in terms of overall audio, cutscene direction, story (no infodumps!), etc. But hey, I'm in the minority, I think. Either that or the honeymoon period ain't over yet. One hit wonder? Maybe in terms of SP. But dat MP? Sogood.

Haven't played Black Ops 2 yet, talking more about Black Ops 1. I just felt that with the surprising amount of crap being thrown my way every thirty seconds, I could comprehend it all. Mileage may vary on the enjoyment of the story of Black Ops 1, but all that pulp alternative history stuff was brain numbing for me. I always felt the Call of Duty titles told their stories pretty well. Whether or not it's a product of its heavily scripted linearity is irrelevant.

You guys are forgetting that Bungie also made Marathon and Myth. They all have strong single player campaigns. And f*ck the haters, ODST and Reach were good. Reach may have been disappointing (how the f*ck they could miss the opportunity to reveal the Covenant invading Reach in shocking fashion is beyond me), but it's still great to play.
