This is BS. MS has put in a safe guard. You have to confirm to shut-down.

And the fact that you generally have to set kinect up so it recognizes you.

So what's the point of the voice commands then ?
If you still have to press a button to shut it off ? Or you yell and press a button, or you press a button twice.

Pretty sure MS said kinect can tell which voice is saying what. Most probably in these offices these are just default units not going through the voice recognition setup.

I guess it's not as good at recognizing individual voices as we thought...

Also, if you guys remember, Shensolidus confirmed this months ago as a problem at his workplace, they had to ban the words "Xbox off" because it would shut down all of the dev kits. Whether you believe he's a dev or not..

Why can't you disable that feature entirely, and just use the controller to turn the system on/off :/

The tweet is to vague for me to draw any conclusions as far I can see. Just because people are yelling Xbox off doesn't mean they units are actually turning off its just probably annoying that people do it. As far as can someone just yell Xbox off im sure there will be a be a are you sure? yes or no option after you say it as well as the voice recognition working

Or maybe was a joke tweet? Employees that go around turning off the devices of colleges continuously get fired. I can go now and push the button and turn off the PC of my boss. I guess making PCs so easy to turn off where everyone can just push a button wasn't a good idea after all.

My guess is the devkits don't have the individual recognition (duh, because teams of devs work on them).

One of the main design faults of the X1. Why would Microsoft add stupid voice commands when they are easily done by a click of a button?

His voice would have to be set up on the system for it to work though. If your voice recognition isn't set up, nothing would happen. Like all the XBox One features, it could be turned off before you start playing the game. lol!! It's the simple things.

The voice option can be turned off. Who the hell is going to saying "XBox Off" during a game. It's not a common thing to say.

It won't work as well as advertised, same as Kinect 1.0. It'll be a fun device, but it won't be as sophisticated as MSFT has stated, and it will definitely not be able to recognize different voices.

@blackace: I think you are the biased one. Who in their right mind would buy this MANDATORY crap for an extra $100 just to turn it off or unplug it? Think before you reply next time :).
