This -

The 300 prototype units will ship with the following components:

GPU: some units with NVidia Titan, some GTX780, some GTX760, and some GTX660

CPU: some boxes with Intel i7-4770, some i5-4570, and some i3

RAM: 16GB DDR3-1600 (CPU), 3GB GDDR5 (GPU)

Storage: 1TB/8GB Hybrid SSHD

Power Supply: Internal 450w 80Plus Gold

Dimensions: approx. 12 x 12.4 x 2.9 in high

-

- sounds incredible. If final specs are anything like those then next-gen consoles will look like the toys they are. And I really want to try that pad.

Any idea on the price?

There's a good article on that here - http://www.usgamer.net/articles/how-much-will-a-steam-box-cost-you

"The Best Steam Machine, using the high-end specs, comes to a total of $1,577.46 for an Intel Core i7-4770 3.4 GHz Quad-Core processor, 16 GB of DDR3-1600 memory, a 1 TB hard drive, and an Nvidia GTX Titan 6 GB video card."

"The Good Steam Machine, using the low-end specs, comes to a total of $557.01 for an Intel Core i3-3240 3.4 GHz Dual Core Processor, 16 GB of DDR3-1600 memory, a 1 TB hard drive, and an Nvidia GTX 660 3 GB video card."

With mass-production and subsidies? I would guess they're going to be pretty close to the PS4's and Xbox One's price points, which is insane.

People should never think that they are the same. The fact is used game sales is not evil and people have the right to buy or sell used games. The company already made the money from the game anyways but piracy is bad because the company never makes cash from it at all. It's sad when you have some people say that used gaming is worse then piracy. I mean they can't be serious.

What about piracy makes you think it translates to lost sales?

That's a lot of power for that price. This thing intrigues me.
