Well despite what sci fi movies lead people to believe, the 4th dimension is not time.

If Sony meant it in the sense that I learned in Physics at college, then they are technically correct. If you can view a series of 3D objects from another vantage point, outside of the objects, you are said to be in a 4th dimension. If they mean it in the sci fi sense, they are also correct. But then again every game that implements a day clock or changing events based on time is too. Either way, it's not some thing only available on the PS3 and is just a buzzword, used by a crazy executive.

What Sony ment by 4D is that you can take a scanned image and immediatly put it into a 3d model. They can do this with alot of diffrent things. examples are a doctor can take a scan of your heart and immediatly see it(heart beating and all) rather than haveing to wait a few hours for it to render out each frame. Or they can take a topigraphical map of an area with some pictures and with only a small amount of alignment and programming the Cell processor can take it and turn it into a 3D object and run it at all full 30 to 60 FPS.

Now if you tried to do that with any other processor out there you would not near get the same results. 4D is an open term used for many diffrent concepts. So 4D in this case is modeling,rendering, and animating all instantly.
