Am i the only one that turn off the "music volume" in games?

i only like to keep the sfx volume. in GTA games i never liked the radio channels.

games companys can really cut the budget and spend more time on the gameplay instead of music. who need all the symphonys and dramatic music?

it's such a clec'e.

Just turn off the radio.

Also most games give you the option to turn off your Music.

I personally love the Music in my games because it enriches the atmosphere.

Some video game music is awesome. I'm surprised this thread isn't spammed with rocking tracks.

You are wrong TC. Your taste in music is incorrect. Within 500 years you will be dead because of this, and you've nobody but yourself to blame.

I turn the radio off in cars when games have it, but I leave the game's soundtrack on. The music is part of what makes the experience. The suicide mission in Mass Effect 2 would have been far less incredible without the music, for example.

It depends. I turned off the intrusive music in System Shock 2. The music itself was fine, but got in the way of atmosphere. Whereas in Stalker (particularly CoP), the music enhanced the atmosphere. Heck, sometimes I didn't even know music was even playing.

LOL do you mean cliché?

Music is as important as anything else in games, such as movies. TC is mental.

The only time I actually turn off the music in games is when I wanna listen to my own. Usually with multiplayer games.

I love some video game music!  Sucks for you, OP.

Now... cheesy lyrics in vg music does piss me off.  Really killed a lot of the tracks for me in FFXIII.

I turn off the music in most of my games too unless it's a driving game or something. I like to tune in on game sounds especially if the sounds indicate something.

What kind of weird people don't like music? Soundtracks are an integral part of gaming IMO.

It depends, playing Bayonetta without the music on the boss battles wouldn't be the same, on the other hand, games like The Last of Us don't need any music in certain parts of the game.

I occasionally turn the music down or off in Civ or Sim like games when it gets repetitive after awhle or I'd rather just focus on strategizing.  Other than that a good soundtrack is one of my favorite parts of a game.  I love video game music and if it's really good I'll add it to my mp3 collection as well.

But if you don't like it you can just turn it off - no need to ruin it for everyone else.

Some games I do. I think I did it in Cysis 2 and thought it was better. I do it in AC6. I usually always do it in sports games, and turning off the commentary, because it pisses me off. I also do them in racing games like Forza and Dirt.

Sometimes I find it detracts from the environmental sounds and what they can bring.

Also music plays a powerful part in the atmosphere, so in some games it could improve your abilities by turning the music off, by relieving the tension and allowing you to focus on what you're doing. So in an FPS, the music could add a sense of pressure. Although turning it off in a lot of other games would just ruin them.

Ditto. Otherwise, I prefer the game's score.
