@joshrmeyer: if you play via Game Pass (ie the Microsoft Store), it's still an "Xbox" game.. This has been the case since 2016, not sure how you missed the memo..

Personally, I'll be waiting until the Series X version since this game seems to really benefit from powerful hardware..

On topic, despite how desperate the TC is, sims have been a thing for a long time.. Particularly driving stimulators.. Cloud tech and other advancements have just taken this flight sim to the next level..

Sat down and played it for a couple hours. This game is incredible. They have made a truly comprehensive sim that scales with your skill.

I took off from my local airport, flew 30 minutes to zoom over my parents' house, then turned around and landed at the local airfield. If I were role-playing, I'd say my dad picked me up and then we hit some golfballs at the driving range literally across the street from the airfield :D

Super accessible with a scaling learning curve.

I love my "dumb" games where all I do is run around and shoot, loot, and chat with characters, but sometimes it is really nice to have an educational game. While MS Flight Simulator is not a "study sim" like DCS World A-10C/F-16/etc, it's pretty damn close. The positive is that it is not nearly as initimidating. I was able to hop in to MS Flight Sim with no problem and zoom around, but to truly get the most out of it I will need to sit down and practice.

I think later I will take off from an airfield in Alaska with my Cub and find a nice lake to fish at :D Go land on the gravel beach or grass.

@Antwan3K: Just odd playing an "xbox" game on PC but not being able to on an xbox. Yes I know all xbox 1st party games go to PC, but not all 1st party games go to xbox apparently.

I called dreams trash. Flight sim isn't trash but I called it niche and I'm personally not into it.

@ProtossRushX: Simulators are almost always niche, that's why it was PC only before. But niche games can be 10/10 for people, 3/10 for some. It's hyped because it's marketed much more bigger now since it's also coming to the X in the future

MSFS is not for me, but there are thousands of people who spend a lot of money because it offers an experience no mere casual games can offer.

Granted I don’t get that many, probably because I don’t game much on PC anymore but I definitely enjoy getting the odd one here and there. Have the Sims Deluxe and Double Deluxe for the PC and really enjoyed that. Also love the Forza franchise and have all the Xbox games of it, a few are even the Collector’s Editions.

No. Most gamers don't. They're mostly hyped by shooters or mobas or mobile games.

I still appreciate the entry because it will help more flight enthusiasts that can't yet afford real training and would hopefully be decent future pilots.

MSFS 2020 is pretty damn revolutionary in what it accomplishes in affording a blanket level of fidelity on a planetary scale that previous sims could only ever dream of offering. What you’re getting out of the box here is incredible, and I get the impression people aren’t really grasping the achievement in context. It’s the entire PLANET on offer with, thanks to satellite data and AI, far more detail than what we’ve seen before. It should be hyped. It’s nowhere near perfect but is an incredible foundation at such scale, and by nature of the evolution of the technology driving it (in addition to third parties), will continually improve. I’m hugely hyped to see where the future takes us with this sim.

played a couple hours this evening and i'm really impressed.

flying around the mountains in my area was so cool, at one point I got lost and opened up the VFR map and was referencing it against google earth to navigate.

dont think i'll dump a ton of hours into this or get really serious into the sim flying without assists but it might be the most impressed i've been with a game on a technology level since Crysis 1.

I wouldn’t say better - just different. The playstation brand focuses on single player movie and anime games. If you’re not into those, there’s really no reason to own a PS4 or 5. I play mostly online multiplayer and sony struggles in that department. No good FPS or racing exclusives either. Different strokes for different folks.

I've flown to Egypt, U.S. the Virgin Islands, Switzerland, Nevis (which is an Island governed by the UK and where actress Cicely Tyson was born), as well as Tokyo (where my uncle was stationed). I've also flown all over the US. With that being said, I know what it looks like to see things from up above.

Do I want to play a game where I'm virtually in a plane? Without any action...no. Hell, flights are boring af to me. After you've been on a few it gets old. I usually fall asleep. Then you have to deal with your ears getting stopped up due to the pressure even with ear plugs on. That pop hurts like hell. Even if I didn't have a career, I still couldn't see myself playing a game where the only thing I do is sit in the sky and glide. Making paper airplanes and throwing them in the yard is more exciting.

OK, the game isn't for you. why the salt?

I dont like JRPG's but I don't make threads complaining about other people hyping them. because that would be a asinine thing to do.
