Hyping Flight Simulator???

Uh. GT and Forza (to some extent) are driving simulators.

The last Flight simulator from MS came out years ago and this one is superb.

I don't think this has anything to do with it being exclusive.

the hype outside the usual Flight Sim crowd is due to the fact that the game recreates the entire world in impressive detail and lets you fly around it.

I typically don't give a shit about flight sims but the idea of flying around and visiting different real-world areas sounds incredible to me.

It's not even an xbox game so I'm not sure why lems would be hyping it. This is the type of game you buy an expensive PC to play. I've never been into sims but I'm sure there's a niche group out there that'll enjoy it.

Just because a game isn't for you doesn't mean it's bad. The amount of good reviews Flight Sim is getting was definitely surprising for me. The game currently doesn't have a single mediocre review on Metacritic; it's clearly doing something well, even if you don't like simulation games OP.

@NathanDrakeSwag: Pretty sure everyone playing MSFS right now owns a PC. Steam or Gamepass. How many are Lens, I have no idea, maybe steam stats differentiates people according to platform preference. You have to check it out.

@ProtossRushX: I watched the same review because he stated that he served in the air force. And I think it's a beautiful game for what it is but regardless, it's a simulator. You're not shooting, dodging or any of that. You're watching a virtual view of the world from a digi cockpit...and that's it.

I don't get the excitement around being in a moving waiting room but to each is own I guess.

@louixiii: Its Not that simple, I've been flying a small Cesena and a gust of wind is enough to send your plane sideways. You can challenge yourself if you wish. A lot of physics going on if you want to be more daring.

Probably a good candidate for streaming to the low-end platforms. Latency is not a big concern for a game like this.

It's probably out on PC first since that's where you'll find all the flight control support. Also custom setups.

Even if you have no interest in flying that much despite its a simulator, MSFS 2020 is a great tool for visiting different regions as a tourist from the perspective of a plane. Not even regular tourists get to see many of these architectural and natural landmarks from above. This is especially true with large landmarks like the Grand Canyon or the Great Wall of China which are better appreciated from above and that's saying something.

It is a bit like experiencing the excitement of sending an exploration vessel to Mars or other planets in the solar system except you are exploring familiar cities and landmarks on Earth. That's why MSFS 2020 is getting so much praise because of this. Let me ask you, (or anyone) have you ever in your life been on a Plane tourist? (Not talking about getting on Plane and flying state to state)

Edit: Keep in mind this simulator is aiming towards PC players more so than on Xbox One.

Even if you don't like or enjoy sims--and many people don't--this is a win for gaming as a whole. Everyone should get behind this, and it should give you hope. If a game as niche and specialized as a civilian flight simulator can be praised and well made, then literally any game can get praise and well made.

In other words, there is no excuse to not make any kind of game given the success of this game. Sky is the limit! :P

Well, yes. But it's still very much the same state of affairs.

You're taking like, 5 major Publishers that get auto-coverage and not just auto-coverage but exponentially more coverage to the point they can instantly make the irrelevant, relevant again.

Not sure why this would seem odd to you anyways, we're on a forum that gets mega hype over all kinds of lowest common denominator gaming. From bog standard open world games to press-x-to-win cutscene hallways. I don't see how a flight sim is somehow below our standards here.

Agreed. I'm not into flight sims, but being able to see the world in incredible detail is quite fetching.

It's a cool Sim, and it's great for the people that enjoy flight sims BUT

For most people they'll mess around with it for an hour or 2 and never touch it again. Or mess around with it for an hour or 2 every couple of months.

That's because it's not happening on gaming sites. Flight Sim has never been a "gamer's game." It's a simulation for people who like aviation.

If you doubt that these people exist, try finding a flight stick at a major retailer right now. They're all gone. Like, all of them are gone.

To be fair, cows like simple games where they mash triangle to fight, circle to qte, and X to skip 20 minute cutscenes. This is their idea of gaming. The industry thrives on these casuals.
