How powerfull do you believe the NX will be!?

PS4.5 because it would be too expensive to have a handheld packaged in and have a super high spec machine. If the handheld part can go on it's own and away from the console without streaming, that too will need it's own gpu, cpu etc. Very expensive gamble for Nintendo. Will they take a loss on hardware?

more powerful than PS4, can do *all* games at 1080p @ 60fps...don't need to compromise on whether it be 1080p and 30fps or 900p at 60fps. :P

TBH that's what everyone was saying about the PS4. It came out and people discovered it's video card was years old tech wise.

My guess is a little bit better than Wii-U, maybe about PS4 level.

Given Nintendo's hardware track record, so to speak, I'd say we'd be lucky if it manages to be on par with the Xbone. I'll buy one, of course, simply because 'Big N' is good with games, but I've no real hopes of the NX being some hardware powerhouse. Lets just hope it lasts longer than the WiiU before they decide to release another console.

It can't be just about power, if it was the X1 with DX12 and the Power of the Living Cloud would be laying waste the competition.

@Heil68: Should be enough time to work some magic. But yeah, Microsoft and Sony will release a new console if it embarrasses them enough, they dont care what their fans think. Hype is worth its weight in gold, or something like that.

By the sound of things so far, it looks like it would definitely be more powerful than the PS4. But the question is how much more powerful? It could be anywhere from just slightly more powerful than the PS4 (like what the Wii U was to last-gen consoles) to high-end PC levels (like the GameCube upon release). But the former sounds far more plausible than the latter.

Console makers have to make money. Shit hardware is the way to do it.

It's 2015 (should be 2016 when all of their manufacturing contracts get nailed down), so Nintendo could afford to build a system slightly stronger than the PS4 and still make a profit selling it for around $350-$400. So that's my guess. Probably another custom APU from AMD, but with a slightly more powerful CPU, a GPU with a few more compute units, and more than likely the same amount of GDDR5 RAM. I'd be surprised if Nintendo goes with SSD storage though.

Playing catch-up with the PS4 like how the Wii U played catch-up with the PS3/360.

My point still stands: The console needs to be optimized for 2160p30 so as to future-proof it against the PS5.

@flashn00b: the average home doesn't have a 4K television in it, and that isn't likely to change in the next five years. So it would be a waste of resources for Nintendo to spec-out some graphical beast like that. Besides, it would have to be over $500 and people just won't purchase a Nintendo console at a premium price.
