I hear a lot of bashing/praising of a system based on its online multiplayer capabilities.

So, I'm asking you, the proclaimed "hardcore" gamer to tell me how much it really matters to you.

No right or wrong answer. Just your opinion.

It greatly extends the lifespan of a game that; otherwise, would be sitting on the shelf.

A nice multiplayer mode never hurts - but, I'd take an outstanding single player experience over multiplayer any day.

Meh.  I love Counter-Strike: Source, Starcraft has most of the fun come from online, same with Diablo 2, but otherwise, I don't really need online play.

In my mind it matters a bunch , but how many good online games come each year to consoles ???? 5-10 maybe ???? Single player will remain the most important thing to me.

It definately nice to have, but is no substitute to a decent first person mode IMO. But then there are also exceptions to that.

"Don't need it"

I won't complain if it's there, I prolly won't even bother to check it out anyway. I fully prefer a good/great/outstanding single player in every way.

I don't need my games' life span extended, I have way to many games I need to finish as is anyway.
