@luxuryheart: Bruce Timms celebrated artwork that defined the DCAU would have people screeching. It's effectively 1940s pinups with extreme distortion.

I grew up on this, which explains why my childhood is signicantly superior.

Pretty sure the image you posted is smut. Her actual JLU outfit does not show that much ass.

Yea I did some reverse image searching (for science) and it's literally from a porn game artist.

I say this because it's important to note as much when trying to advocate for hotter women and more revealing outfits that 'literally porn' should not be the target.

Most gamers don't seem to understand that though when they see a character made to look like a normal person and throw a hissy over it.

Why not? it's cool.

Barely any diff. Slutty superhero suits are way better.

Now that's one ugly looking photoshop like extra fugly. Even the exaggerated pic in in OP isn't so ugly.

Don't know about anyone but I don't see anything wrong but Aloy's model. It's attractive and have no idea why gamers think it's ugly. I don't see a problem if the character doesn't look exactly like the actress, it's still good looking.

Have someone hacked your account? What kind of a take is this? This is not what you usually hear from hermits.

What do I usually say in these situations? She does look ugly. Seems like someone put Selena Gomez face on top of it but in a weird way.

Ha! It's very uncanny valley looking. And the punchline is this was a photoshop over the original game. People complain they "ruined" Aloy in FW, when they were already calling her ugly the first time around. Whatever guys 🤷

The artist called this a
The artist called this a "less political" face.

Listen I like a good wank as much as the next guy but once the post-nut clarity hits it's harder to take the world or characters or gameplay seriously when it's porn.

Comparing context is valuable and not every game, show, or piece of media benefits from hot characters on screen all the time. In JLU they wear tight outfits because they need to convey fit and attractive characters with simple art and very bite-sized episodes of a show for older kids and young teens. Whereas something like Horizon is a long game for teens and adults that wants you to take it's setting and the characters in it very seriously. Or rather, at least as seriously as you can take a sci-fi apocalypse about fighting robot dinosaurs with bow and arrow.

I always thought they got they did well with the art direction for Aloy. She's attractive, but still fits in with the setting. If you look closely at the screenshot and glamor shot of the actress, you can see her facial features line up pretty well. Main difference is Aloy is a bit sun burnt and doesn't wear makeup. Both things that make sense given her living situation. But you know gamers. It's "pandering" any time a woman doesn't look like an Instagram THOT.

Creepy!

I don't know where y'all get this lie that Western Devs are pushing ugly women as characters. Y'all just don't play those games...

Like Smite. There are plenty of attractive women in Smite with sexy skins. Diverse skins too!

Daji peacock

Daji sexy devil

Beach Yemoja

base Awillix on mount

Beach Awillix

Mermaid Medusa

Base Nu Wa

Beach Nu Wa

Playboi Bunny Nu Wa

Serqet

Naughty Nurse Neith

Carnival Neith

Maid Amaterasu

Summer Amaterasu

Beach Pele

Base Aphrodite

Beach Aphrodite

Sexy Witch Aphrodite

Black "Afro"dite

And this doesn't get into Fortnite, Paladins, Friday the 13th, Apex Legends, The Witcher 3, GTA, etc.

The Witcher 3 literally has sex scenes in it...

Like, y'all claim that Western Feminists ruin gaming, but they couldn't even stop Friday the 13th from releasing these skins:

Loading Video...
Loading Video...

And this company was about to release more bikini skins and sexy slumber party skins, until the lawsuit... This game also has a single player mode where the counselors all sleep with each other and then die in terribly ways by Jason.

I'm not too knowledgeable about Dead by Daylight, since I don't play that game. Friday the 13th was the vastly superior game, before the lawsuit stopped all new content and hackers eventually took it over. Though considering that Dead by Daylight is a horror game like Friday the 13th, and one of the tropes of horror movies is the 'slutty' one. I wouldn't be surprised if they had fan service skins and characters.

omg I don't need sexy females. I want them to look like a hero or the model they hired.

steller blade example. they are complaining about the main character looking to good yet its a spitting image of the model they hired.

alloy does not look like the model they hired.

fable does not look like her.

besides this is not real life its a game. people want to escape the real world.

lmao smite skins. I rather pull my pubic hairs out one by one then to play that.

Your complaint was literally feminists influencing devs to create ugly women, yet there are still games with fanservice.

Per the bolded, y'all simply don't play those games.

Reality check for Western developers: Most female audiences prefer attractive female characters! *GASP*

Most female audiences want their characters to look attractive just as most male audiences do. Attractive female characters are far more likely to pull in female audiences than unattractive female characters.

The examples that I listed above were from Western developers. A lot of Western developers have attractive female characters in their games. The Witcher 3 is the greatest example because it has sex and attractive women, and you play a male character with two romance options (while having sex with other women).

GTA has women in bikinis, and a lot of the games above that I listed have attractive women with fan service skins.

Your examples only prove my point that most female audiences prefer attractive female characters. The games that draw the largest female audiences typically have attractive or cute characters. Certain liberals are trying to push this idea that unattractive female protagonists is "catering" to female audiences, yet that's not what most female audiences actually want. They're catering to a specific loud minority, not the majority of female gamers. If anything, they're alienating the majority of female gamers who'd much rather play games with attractive or cute characters.

Well, yeah. Most people like video games as a form of escapism. The escapism and what you like is subjective. Some people are into monsters, some are furries, some like to self-project onto a cool design, some like sexy people, and some like cute people. Though no one wants a 4/10 human character. The only time people want ugly characters, is for the memes. Like in some games, people would intentionally create ugly characters to troll. Though even then, they're a minority.

Very well said. Back then, gaming was born out of passion, and felt like it was aiming for fun and creativity first and foremost, (Nintendo knows it) and players too as well, we just played what we enjoyed. Nothing else mattered in the end, not which developers said what or what journalists thought. We just enjoyed great gaming.

Even by today's standards, I still enjoy great games coming my way and never care or think of this wokeness people seem to bring up. I play games and enjoy talking about'em in the forums, Twitter, you name it.

True, video games are a form of escapism. Most gamers are looking for a temporary escape from reality, not to be dragged right back into reality. Reminds me of why Shenmue failed, because it was too realistic.

Nobody likes looking at ugly woman.

Doesn't matter how hard they try to condition us with propaganda, god (making genetics) dealt them a bad hand.

Let's not forget that AAA games these days constantly, and I really mean constantly, bug you with microtransactions, in app purchases and in game stores.

If this isn't fourth wall breaking I don't know what is.

Mens physical looks are less important, woman respect power.

This is easily proven via A.Hugh Hefter B. Rupert Murodck and C.Donald Trump

Rupert Murodck literally looks like somehow Palpatine has returned, yet he is, and has had sex with more beautiful woman than far more attractive men could ever dream of.

@uninspiredcup: Yeah, women are far more likely to look past looks in favour of other things (whether it's personality, fame or money)... But that photo isn't the best illustration. Yeah, it shows him old and ugly, but so is the woman holding his hand.

Either way, Murdoch is indeed the real-life Palpatine. Even his name sounds like a super villain name.

A lot of the games that were popular, and had women in fanservice skins, also had attractive men in fanservice skins. It's true that women will overlook how a man looks in real life, because other factors are in play. Though don't get it twisted. EVERYONE has a fantasy. So many women thirst over Geralt and Nathan Drake. In Friday the 13th, a lot of women wore the speedo Chad skin. In the game I play, Paladins, a lot of women like shirtless Fernando, among the other fanservice skins.

No one fantasizes about the man above. Be serious, now...

Street Fighter V was also doing this with Hot Ryu and Hot Cody some years back. The Hot Ryu thing was totally random, because Capcom weren't expecting so many fangirls to be thirsting over a topless bearded Ryu. So they renamed that version of him to Hot Ryu and then introduced Hot Cody afterwards.

Yeah, fighting games made by Japanese devs have had more well rounded fan service as well, and their games are popular. Though most of the anti-woke crowd, don't really complain about Japanese devs. A lot of their criticism is aimed at Western devs. And sure, some Western devs make it a point to NOT have fan service, but there are still Western devs who have sexy skins for everyone.

Though tbh, I do have to wonder how Japanese devs escape the wrath of the anti-woke crowd. Especially the ones who make fighting games, since they tend to have a diverse roster of characters (women, black people, Latino people, etc).

If anything, it's usually the "woke" crowd who frequently bash Japanese games for "sexist" fanservice, even though many of those same Japanese games often have fanservice for female audiences as well. Both male and female characters in Japanese games are usually designed with appeal to the opposite gender. That's why, for example, Leon Kennedy looks like a young Leonardo DiCaprio, because Capcom designed him to look appealing to female audiences. The way many "woke" Westerners are obsessed with policing Japanese games comes across as imperialistic "white saviour" syndrome.

This is probably why the "anti-woke" crowd, as a knee-jerk reaction, have been trying to co-opt Japanese games and other Japanese media for their own agenda. But it often just comes across as disingenuous. For example, the "anti-woke" crowd were celebrating the success of the One Piece live-action show as a victory against "wokeness"... even though One Piece is very diverse and quite "woke" with its socio-political themes. They have a warped perception of Japan as an "anti-woke" conservative nation, when in reality, it has its fair share of liberals and conservatives just like Western nations.
