Is anyone else here embarrassed to be seenplaying a handheld? I feel that if I want to play games, I'd rather do geek out in my own living room rather somewhere public.

It's been a while since I've actually owned a handheld plaform and I will prolly never buy one again. Which is sad considering alot of good franchises are going that route.

thoughts?

got allot of pockets on cargo pants which have like 4 of them, as well the ds and psp go aren't very big once you get the slimmer ones.

I don't play handhelds in public simply because I never have the time. If I'm going somewhere it's either to work or doing something with friends. Even though I don't play them, I can't possibly see how anyone would care. People will just walk by and see someone playing a game. If they think you're a nerd or something who gives a crap? Not like their thoughts will effect you in any sort of way.

Now, if someone goes out of their way to call you a nerd or something then just think how sad and pathetic that individual is. Talk about insecurity.

I honestly question those who play handhelds in public. If you are over 18 and playing a handheld in public then.... you need to find something better to do with your time.

Most people over 18 have passed the "I´m embarrassed to do something in public that other people might see" period in life.

I think if you are worried what strangers OR anyone for that matter thinks or you, you have more issues to deal with then playing games in public. Good luck man

Couldn´t you say the same thing about gaming overall?

Why play Halo or CoD when you can be out with your friends or read a good book?

I don´t see why handhelds should be looked down on but other forms of gaming is apparently fine.

Is texting or playing an app on a phone honestly that different? Anything's better than staring at the back of a chair for hours.

So, in other words, you judge other people for something you admittedly would want to do as well, but lack the courage for fear of not being socially acceptable, and so you hide and disguise the activity? This is not the good side of human nature.

1. "Grumpy" doesn't enter into it. Games are fun.

2. Not every moment of life is worth taking the time to reflect on it. Some are lonely moments, filled with pre-fabricated views and repetetive gestures. Games offer more to appreciate than such moments.

Well just game outside with your PSP, it gets you chicks man

There's a low chance of that happening with a DS, because it's really just a toy

Hi everyone. I'm 32 years old, and I play on my PSP in public. I don't care what people think. I'm just trying to pass the time and enjoy myself.

How many people out there are playing games on their phones? How is that different than using a handheld?

To play games exclusive to the system, why would I want to walk outside every time I want to play a handheld game?

There's alot of insecure people in this thread  reminds me of all the people who only play COD and say that's the only game they have because they feel insecure to say they play other games. Nowadays EVERYONE who isn't walking is always using their phone or doing something so why wouldn't you play ur handheld when your not home and sitting down?

Why should anybody be embarrassed doing what they love, which is playing videogames? If you feel that playing a handheld outdoors is too kiddy thats fine, but I know alot of other folks dont share your divine opinion on hanhelds.
