Gears 5 hype thread for Sony fanboys! Update: Gears 5 is a 7/10!

In the real world GS review hasn't been completed.

I was always under the impression Charizard1605 made that rule about Meta not being a thing in SW? Unless GS Staff has a saying though, I can understand.

@daredevils2k: Even in the deluded world of Sony fanbois, a 7 isn't a flop...especially when - as already covered - the review communities score it an 8.6 on average.

Is anyone playing? I just finished Boot Camp, just starting chapter one now.

Some are already playing the game now due to them being a reviewer and my favorite YouTuber has already uploaded Gears 5 gameplay as we speak. Took a sneak peak and watch just minor clip of it. I gotta say, I'm impress with the visuals and yeah, I won't be able to play it on PC until tomorrow from Game Pass but in another way, at least we don't have to wait until September 10, so that says alot.

Since I'm mostly into PC gaming content, it's the place I enjoy PC builds :)

I think when it comes to sequels like these it's hard to get perfect scores. Unless Gears 5 has a whole another dimension I can't see past an 8.

@sts106mat: That’s what I read, and it unlocked for me right on 9 and I’m in Australia. I think it unlocks at 9pm your local time.

@i_p_daily: This is the reason why some of us have gaming PC, multitasking comes a long way. I play long periods of gaming, I take a 30 minute breaks by watching YT and back to gaming.

In short, I love PC contents even though I'm not a PC enthusiast.

Finished the first act and it was pretty good. Started a bit slow but starting to dig it now. A few new enemy types and a few new weapons is a welcome change. It’s still Gears...but to some of us that’s good. Liking it so far.

So far, how would you rate Gears 5?

@davillain: Lots of walking lol but I think that’s to be expected if you play the series. Just starting Act 2 but I am enjoying it more than Gears 4. Plus Jack has a few more tricks up his sleeve with a basic upgrade path, so that adds a bit more to the gameplay. I think you will enjoy it, looks good so far.

To be fair, modern consoles can do this pretty easily as well. PC gaming has other benefits that trump consoles completely.

Yes. Its a really cool first Act so far. The 60 fps is so welcome, the world so fleshed out, characters have that lived in feel now. Its pretty entertaining. I play on "experienced" first time out (formerly hardcore) so its challenging but it keeps that hectic react & strategize on the fly aspect I like from games. Game is beautiful and smooth so far.

@cainetao11: Ya it’s a pleasant surprise. I wasn’t sure what to expect but so far it’s been great. I chickened out and started on intermediate, or normal as old...bit rusty on the controls I am, still having a blast though. Bout to put in a few hours playing shortly, should be fun.

I am probably around half way through the game, so far I would give it 8/10.

It's a very good game so far, probably the best looking game so far this generation (but I am playing it on the X).

WAB always sucked. Complain about consoles, go on about old days, industry bad! Like we already didn't know. Same shit over over. His cute rants get net £1000 a month in Patreon money.

Should set up a Patreon for Champ, dude would rant him under the table, turn the man into a god dam millionaire.

Visuals are great, gunplay seems to have been tweaked for the better, Dave is actually useful, Horde is brilliant, online is as good as always...not much to dislike so far and I'd give it a solid 8.

Really enjoying the campaign. I thought 4 was boring, but this is fun and varied enough.

Truly this is the best MS game I'm enjoying since Halo 4. Gears 5 is my first Gears game and the gameplay is really fun! Gotta give it a 9 out of 10 as of now while I'm still playing it. Looks awesome on Xbox One X from my experience.

The positive user feedback is good. Definitely going to give it a go after work.

Few acts in and the Game is stunning, campaign is great and combat is better than 4

To for my Gears 5 report.

Gears 5 is really beautiful in terms of graphics, I'm currently playing it on PC with Game Pass in 1440p. The game is a great improvements over Gears of War 4. Overall, I'm giving this a 8/10 mainly for the Campaign and trying to clear that out of the way before I move into MP.

Agreed. I enjoyed my play through of 4 one time as Im a Gears universe nerd. But this game is so much better.
