Gameplay video of Sonic Mania

I'm not going to lie but I'm actually excited for this Sonic game. Hopefully this games turns out better then Sonic 4 episode 1 and 2 but so far the gameplay looks great.

It's a given that Mania is going to be great since Taxman, Stealth, and Tee Lopes are making it, and of course, that it's using the already proven retro engine. The only question is where it's going to rank between Sonic 1-3 & Knuckles and CD. :D

I was hoping for a more Sonic 3 music/animation/vibe as apposed to Sonic 1/CD ... hope there is some sort of story theme similar to Sonic 3 + Knuckles.... including super/ultra forms.

Either way, a good step in the right direction.

That's definitely true in terms of aesthetics and music. In terms of physics, movement, and level design it's much closer to Sonic 2, which excites me.

looks like a rehash of original Sonic as if they lacked ideas and I'm not seeing anything fresh. That's what's great about the SMB series throughout the years, it keeps much of the classic gameplay and styles while still keeping it fresh but Sonic hasn't been able to achieve that very well for some reason. Sonic Adventure was always my favorite, wish they could get it right with a similar sequel but haven't kept up on all of them.

I'll be buying this. First Sonic game I've been excited for since the Dreamcast launch.

Game looks fabulous.

Sega probably saw Capcom remaking everything in their library and thought "maybe they don't want new Sonic because they want old Sonic; EUREKA!!"
