To me, GameCube has Resident Evil 4, at a time when it was exclusive. It also had RE: Remake. And the best Smash Bros game, Melee. GameCube takes the cake for me.

Dreamcast was awesome in its first few years. I use to play Nfl 2K and Nba 2K with friends all the time. I think Gamecube was better because of its diversity though. Its had high quality games in a bunch of different genres.
Dreamcast, hands down.
it had arcade perfect ports of Street fighter III 2nd impact/3rd strike, MVC, MVC2, Marvel super heroes vs street fighter, Rival schools 2, etc
and it also had my favorite game of all time...Shenmue
Gamecube had jack shit for fighting game fans like myself.
Man this is a tough one. Mario Sunshine, Mario Kart DD, Wind Waker, Smash Bros vs Sonic Adventure, Power Stone, NFL 2K, NBA 2K, Soul Caliber. And there are tons of great titles left out on both consoles. I refuse to pick a winner here. Or they both win? Whatever is allowed I guess.
I would say the Gamecube was better, but in all fairness, the Gamecube also had about 3 times longer on the market to become better.
What the Dreamcast was able to deliver in less than two years on the market was amazing and I think that there is a very good chance that if the Dreamcast had a full 5 year lifespan, it would be the better console for me especially since my second favorite Gamecube game, Super Monkey Ball, would have been a Dreamcast exclusive.
The Gamecube gave us Metroid Prime 1+2 and at the time the best version of Resident Evil 4 and a fuckin bitchin Resident Evil 1 remake.
The Dreamcast is like this internet darling, because gamers like bad things.
Quiet you. I only played DC once for 6 hours straight when my older sibling's friend brought it over one day. 6 hours was all it took for me to know that it was an amazing console. That and I played some of their stuff at arcades later on.

I love a lot of the games on the Dreamcast. Street Fighter 3? Never hated that game the way the internet did (at the time, now we got revisionism). It is well documented on this forum that I DESPISE loot games, more than I hate video games in general (see mjohr, I just own the narrative), but I LOVE me some Phantasy Star Online (even if Phantasy Star 4 was a better game), Jet Grind Radio? Divine. Powerstone? bitchin. The original Soul Calibur? It's actually not as great as people thought it was, not the least of which is because 2 is a better thought out fighting game, cheesy guest characters aside (as all of them were basically OP).
But in between that library had a lot of fluff with games that weren't actually all that legit. The Sonic Adventure games were garbage, they didn't age, they were always shit, gamers just liked bad things and had not accepted that Sonic blew right away. The 2knfl games, have benefited from the fact that Nfl 2k4 and 2k5 (especially 2k5, especially at the steal of 20 bucks) was a better video game than Madden 04 and Madden 05 (before you know Madden stopped trying), and a whole lot of that stuff in that library. But compare it to the Saturn, I'd say if that some of its Japanese stuff actually came stateside, it wouldn't have been close the Saturn completely outclasses the dreamcast as the internet darling.
And yeah the Gamecube had droughts, and imo two of Nintendo's big 3: Zelda and Mario, had lesser outings with Wind Waker and Sunshine. But that system also got Melee, Double Dash, it also got Viewtiful Joe, Killer 7, Rogue Leader, Eternal Darkness, the first and frankly the only good console Fire Emblem entry the states got in Path of Radiance (The rest the states got on handhelds). The platforms exclusives, were genuinely terrific and stood the test of time. And yeah it still got multiplats, a lot of times good ones. It didn't quite have the library of the PS2, nor the online features of the PS2 and Xbox, but even judging that console in 1 year windows, any one year it had, i would put over the dreamcast.

In case you forgot.
I played some of the Dreamcast games when they were re-released on other platforms, I played them and I think the GameCube is better.
I respect the Dreamcast, although I wonder if nostalgia plays a part with it.
I don't believe the Dreamcast is as good as any of the other 6th gen consoles.
Gamecube for me, despite I love Dreamcast, Sega toss the red flag too early in it's lifespan. Gamecube FTW ibaby cause GC has Star Wars: Rogue Leader Rogue Squadron 2. SSB: Melee, Metroid Prime, Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, and lots of great games on it.
I'd say gamecube, but mostly because of build quality. People are shorting the Dreamcast library. The console offered a fair amount of shooters and the best iterations of 2d fighters. The DC controller was garbage.

Well you can say the same about the DC.
It had resident Evil code Veronica,Sonic when it still was a great game,Soul Calibur,NFL 2k,Virtual Fighter 3,Quake 3 arena.

Yes after how many years.?
The DC came in 1999 in US the GC in 2001 and on launch non of those games were on Gamecube.
Sure they hit once the DC died but i think the comparison was more on the lines of when both platforms were alive,he also named RE4 which was also for PS2.

Sure, but the comparison isn't between GCN and PS2, it's between DC and GCN, and GCN had RE4, DC did not.

Yes but for all intended purposes he used a multiplayform, and several of the games i mention never hit the gamecube.
Quake 3 didn't,neither VF3,Soulcalibur didn't land either it was the second chapter and was on 2003 the DC was dead already by that time,NFL 2k and 2k1 were not on GC either which were the highest rated in the series, the first NFL game on GC was release on 2002 3 years after the series landed on DC and once again, when the DC was declare officially dead already, which is the reason NFL landed on GC in the first place, and so did Sonic adventure didn't land on GC until 2003 when sega was already making games for other consoles.
I mi self think the GC was better, but i could call it a tie with no problems the DC didn't live long but it sure have a great assortment of games not found on other platforms while the console was alive.
Not to mention the DC was gaming online when the neither the PS2 or GC were.
Dreamcast had better original titles.
Gamecube had better games for established franchises.
Dreamcast had good games for established franchises.
Gamecube had decent but few new IPs.
Both had great games. Dreamcast had more going for it in the two years it was around. Dreamcast was the last Sega system. Gamecube should have been the last Nintendo system. It's definitely the last good Nintendo system.
I'll go with GameCube.
It had the ultimate resident evil collection of games at the time, resdient 4 was exclusive for a while, it also has the remake and resident evil 0.
The GameCube had console Pokemon games, collseuem and gale of darkness I thought were very good.
Then there was Nintendo's normal output of Nintendo first party games like all the Mario stuff, metroid, Zelda, star fox, smash brothers etc.
The GameCube is the last nintendo console I liked.

DreamCast all day.
When Dreamcast had Resident Evil Code Veronica as Exclusive noone else had anything similar to even go near. There wasnt RE4 by then , there wasnt Remake or Zero. Same for many other titles that released way after DCs exclusivity / death like Skies of Arcadia etc.
Unique fun games and concepts only on DREAMCAST as exclusives or time exclusives. Some of them i had a blast with only on DC at the time :
TOO many of their arcade hits that had a blast with on my TV like
And more ...
As much as i think Gamecube as the best Nintendo console when it comes to games variety , i think Dreamcast wins all the way. For my taste that is. It combined some of the strongest traditional console games as exclusives/time exclusives and at the same time some of the best ARCADE hits only on DC !
