FF7 Remake: Nomura didn't know he was the director

"Mr. Hashimoto was involved with the advertising and marketing of the original, so like [Mr. Kitase and myself], VII has a strong place in his heart," Nomura explained.

"As preproduction went along and I offered my opinions on what I thought should be done, Mr. [Yoshinori Kitase, director of the original] would ask me how the individual elements should be adjusted in fine detail. It was very perplexing."

It wasn't until Nomura checked an internal company presentation that he realised he was director.

This came as a shock to Nomura. He is currently busy directing Kingdom Hearts 3, which doesn't have a release date.

"So I called up Mr. Kitase and said, 'It says that I’m the director for some reason.' To which he replied, 'Of course it does'’" Nomura added.

Good job Square Enix.

I'm surprised they got as far as they have to get a trailer out at E3 with no leader, on that thought he was supposed to be making a totally different game. Damn, maybe it will take until 2020 to release.

2020 is the re-reveal has FF 16, after the cancelation. Release is 3 years after that.

Years ago I changed my stance on all games developed internally at SE. There are two main pillars to this system.

1. Everything they develop is going to be shit until proven otherwise.

2. Everything they announce is going to take an unreasonable amount of time to release.

Negative? Absolutely, but it completely frees me from being disappointed with their output and I wouldn't have it any other way. And if they do get their shit together it will be that much more satisfying.

If it isn't turn based, then I'm not buying.

Who knows what this means but I am getting the vibe that it was a rushed announcement to boost E3 presence. I loved FF7 back in the day and finished it several times, but the FF7 announcement at E3 did noting for me, not because I am not interested in the final product, but at this point it just seems so far off.

This makes me think this was a rushed response to the lukewarm reception of the FFVII PC version port being ported to PS4.

That is hilarious. I would not be surprised at all if this game ends up being lousy by the time it's released about eight years from now.

I love Final Fantasy VII, but by the time this game releases, the PS4 & Xbox One will be approaching the end of their lifespan...lol
