Fallout 4 Hype Thread - Are you S.P.E.C.I.A.L.?

Neither of them are the worst. But both are pretty bad.

• Leaked Screenshots lack shadows
• Dumbed down character system to the point where attributes have become perks, no skills either. Just perks
• Banal perks, where roughly 80% of all perks are "do activity x a% better"
• Hamfisted writing done by a writing department who clearly couldnt be arsed researching the setting.
• A dialogue wheel that was worse than what everyone feared. Paraphrasing is woefully inaccurate. Perhaps even worse than what Mass Effect 1 did.
• Reduced emphasis on emergent gameplay. Fallout 3 at the very least would let you sneak through several missions. In here, sneaking has been quite heavily de-emphasized.
• Graphics that are at 2008 levels.
• Gameplay footage would indicate a complete absence of challenge. With most enemies dying in a few hits, and you being a walking tank.
• Gunplay below Call of Duty's already low standard.
• Limited dialogue, you can only ask each NPC one thing.
• Dice Rolls for dialogue options rather than threshholds (What were they thinking?)
• No weapon durability
• Still the same minigames to hack and pick locks.

After I saw the leak it's a 7/10 at best. The game looks like a minor upgrade over FO3/NV with PS3/360 graphics, horrible animations, the same exact combat we've seen in previous games, the same hacking mechanics, less dialog, passive perks, and the loss of some mechanic s(weapon durability).

It's really disappointing. Bethesda is really recycling its content.

9.0 here and 9.4 on metacritic.

The game doesn't even appear to be using any form of ambient occlusion; of course, as sure as it rains it will receive blathered high scored.

Hyping AAAA and GoTY. This is going to be the game people are talking about well into January and maybe even February.

I'll have November 7th through the 24th off of work for vacation. After a Disneyland trip from 9th through the 13th, I will have all the time to play this. Sad to miss the launch, but I will be in the happiest place on earth... so not a huge deal. Although, my wife expects me to finish wiring the electrical in the garage, and finish all the drywall. But we'll see if there's time. lol

Well, with the review dropping in less than a week, and the game coming out in a week. We need to anchor down and prepare for amazingness.

While I am actually on board the Fallout hype train for a change, I maintain this will not be as good as The Witcher 3

I like the Fallout series for the atmosphere as well as the gameplay. It's like a sci-fi game with fantasy roleplay mechanics. I find it absolutely tantalizing. Going back and playing Fallout 3 has only made me want this game, more.

Also, the leaked gameplay videos made my hype uncontainable.

I guess, but it does seem as though the roleplaying or questing in this game is not on par with Witcher 3, at least from early leaks.

We'll see. I love Bethesda, so they get the full benefit of the doubt from me.

I think AAAA is a safe bet lol. It's basically confirmed haha.

Oh it'll get a 9 here. I mean there's no question about it. But my personal hype is next to non-existent. Fallout 3 is an awful game and there's nothing here that convinces me this one will be any different. Quite the contrary, really.

LMAO, they turned Power Armor into a fucking Scripted Event vehicle you find in shitty action games like CoD.

I'm buying the game day 1 because I feel obligated. But I have this nagging suspicion that the game is gonna be a mess. I'm hyping AA but I don't know, part of me wouldn't be surprised if a lower score dropped. Hopefully I'm wrong.

That looked horrid. I thought with the crap graphics they would be able to concentrate on animations, a living breathing world, even in tunnels I expect to see particles in the air, strange odors floating around, insects crawling everywhere, small details everywhere. Instead it's extremely bland and lifeless. It was only a small clip so I hope I am so so wrong.

lol metro 1 looked better. and this is barely even a rpg, its like Farcry with more perks, all of which are just gutted gameplay mechanics of other shooters that yhou slowly fill up to become a half way shooter.

Bethesda games gives me more bang for my buck, so I will definitely support them and get this game. However from what I've seen so far I don't think this will on par with my current fave open world RPG type game, Witcher 3, and get a 10. My guess leans more towards an 8 more than a 9 here. I'm looking forward to check out the modding options too.

@MonsieurX: I'm keeping my hype in check. I'm definitely buying it, but Fallout games are typically a mess on release.

I am a huge fan of Fallout 3 and New Vegas...not really hyped about this one. I wasn't to begin with and it goes down further the more I learn about this one.

Basically most of, if not all of my suspicions about this game are looking to be confirmed.

Not like it matters, because people will still voluntarily eat this shit up and make apologies for Bethesda being poor developers.

I would be shocked if it got anything below a 9. Fallout games have always done well with reviews.

1 week bros. 1 week. Well, 6 days for me in just a few hours, but you get the point! :P

Gotta say, the gun play is looking very good. There are some things mods can't fix. Consequently, these are the only things I care about.

Should score "AAA" considering all the hype this game has been getting. The only thing that could kill that is if the game was very buggy. So we'll see what happens.
