If only looks are concerned then yes. EC is the most beautiful and photorealistic game, I have seen.
Yeah EC on PC shits on any console game.
how can you tell its the pc version. and what do you campare this to?
Because the 900pStation version doesn't even have a release date yet.

As far as I'm aware, nope!

It sure does and actually an adventure/detective game that doesn't hold your hand.

well it cant get worse can it?
I bet if you were the real time camera, you aimed down and crouched, the leafy ground would look pretty flat.
Well, it is using scans of real world objects that's why... Umbra and Battlefront are also using similar techniques.
But also shows that graphics mean shit when the gameplay sucks
How does the gameplay suck?
Just because it's not an FPS where you're blasting shit left and right?
It's a detective game. A detective game that I found to be a helluva lot more interesting than Heavy Rain or L.A. Noire.
It's not hard to make a game look good when you are using scans of real world objects.
Well then more developers need to start doing it.
Because it looks fantastic
And it's not just the textures, but the physics as well. The way that tree branches and leaves move around in the wind looks real as hell.

lol. It's pretty fucking difficult man. It's one thing to clean up and re-purpose scan data of a vehicle, or a person (still tough), but trying to nail it for environmental objects like these? It's a bitch. And while you can re-project your textures back to the lower res remesh with minimal clean-up (sometimes), you've actually made your job much more difficult from a shader setup standpoint. I always prefer to texture manually.
Most games use scan data these days though, and have been for years, so I'm not sure why everyone sites this game as some pioneer.
Also, photogrammetry is poor mans scanning lol.
tVoEC also has very little distinctive artistic direction and uses ancient techniques (DX9)... Textures are great and all but there are other things that are just as important. Post processing, environmental responsiveness (I've noticed The Witcher 3 doing this very well, wind on trees, plants move when you and anything else passes through them, etc.) Lighting effects.
I want this so badly, I loved Dear Esther and I think this is like that? Is it?
Not quite. Has a similar principle but the gameplay is much more interactive. Dear Esther felt more... mysterious. This has much more honest, straightforward storytelling. I prefer Dear Esther.

Cool thanks for the reply. I will pick up TVOEC when its on sale, hopefully soon, I really want to play it.
@frank_castle: I know what type of game it is, I finished the game. Just because isn't a shooter doesn't automatically make it good.
@Jankarcop: No it's really not, it's about as much of a game as beyond two soul's.
EC actually requires a brain, and has more actual gameplay hours than The Order. TO can be seen on youtube or played with your eyes closed. Considerably less of a game.
Yeah and this game coming to Ps4, thank you Sony
It'll certainly be PS4's best looking game unless its gutted too much from the PC version.
