Elden Ring, the next big Hype game that System Wars seems to can't stop hyping about! 10/10 GS!!!

Update: GS review-in-progress as of now. Even IGN review for ER is 10/10

Been a while since I've done one of these hype threads but since HFW took the PS5 (PS4) by storm, there's no doubt Elden Ring will take the glory from it and as such, FromSoftware can do no wrong. And we can't forget about George R. R. Martin's blessing with his collaboration with Hidetaka Miyazaki assuring Elden Ring to be FromSoftware's best game yet. But for me, I’m more curious than hyped, to be honest. Keeping this simple, here's what you'll need to know and why you should (or shouldn't) be hype:

• Platform: PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One. (Sorry no Switch)
• Developer: FromSoftware
• Publisher: Bandai Namco
• Releasing: February 24/25.

For the PC version, we finally got confirmation regarding PC specs:

These specs are not "bad." To look at the recommended specs, we're talking about a GPU that was out 6 years ago and is several GPU generations old. The way I see it, FromSoftware doesn't want people to have a poor experience and want to achieve a minimum framerate. But I'm sure DF/Alex will no doubt go into his magical details on the PC version.

With all of that said, I'll go with a...9/10. Sorry no MC scoring from me but never mind that, here's the overview trailer as I leave you why you better be super hype: (Oh and this trailer is minor spoilers but don't watch unless you wanna see what the game has to offer)

Oh Elden Ring!

Got my copy pre-ordered from Best Buy, Xbox version. Got that sweet Steelbook Edition. If my past pre-orders are anything to go by I probably won’t get it on the day of release though sadly. It’ll likely arrive the following week. Very hyped for this game. My predictions are:

Speaking of Collector's editions, I tried really hard to get the one with the Helmet lol but got screwed over! So I guess I'll be just getting the regular version instead. Haven't really been watching the videos enough to have a gauge on MC score, so I'll let it be a surprise.

Not trying to be cynical, but I don't have high expectations. Sounds exactly like Dark Souls but with a half-baked open-world approach. Idunno, maybe that's exactly what people want; I don't like games like Dark Souls, so...

I hope I'm wrong, I hope it is a great game. Just not really expecting it.

Pre ordered through bestbuy a month ago since they're offering a steel case as a bonus/free. For scores, as i've been saying in my sig for a while: 10/10 GS and 94 meta.

Will be remembered as THE open world game. And just like Dark Souls, many games will be made to be like it and compared to it.

Elden Ring bus

With all the ungodly hype this game should not score anything less than 95 on MC.

Two things that i am certainly not gonna be a fan of is the jumping and stealth/crouch. Its simply not fitting in a Dark Souls-like game. It was great in Sekiro because you're playing as agile ninja, but how dumb is sneaking in tall grass when your 12 foot ultra greatsword is sticking out of grass? The jump animation is also pretty dumb looking, and because it cannot be parried, i am expecting everyone to just spam it in pvp, which is gonna be a shitshow. I don't know why they've added these two, it adds nothing to the experience.

What happened to the other thread? 9/10 on GS. 92 on MC.

Thinking doing the NZ time-zone trick on Xbox so I can play on Thursday. Anyone else ever done this. Will I get banned or shouted at?

Any more than 94% would just be to risky. Although I've already bought the game so I don't really care about the reviews/rating.

I don't think so. The loophole has been around for quite a while. And I don't think there's anything that will get you kicked off or anything like that.

that being said, I think the earliest console players can do is cheat to pacific time in the U.S.

I'm in the UK and NZ is 13 hours ahead of us, so I'd get it Thursday lunch time if my calculations are correct.

tomorrows the big day. If this game scores an 8, poor hardwenzen, I don't know what hes going to do.

I think they will miss the mark a bit in the "open world" and get docked for that, I think they will get docked a bit for some of the glitches people have reported (there are hours of gameplay available on YouTube), and I think they will get docked for having some uneven gameplay.

So, I think it will miss a 9 or 10 and get an 8. But, if it gets a 9, I certainly will not be saying it's overrated.

I did not say that. I said that I haven't seen screen shots or videos of HFW having more than 3 enemies on screen and still having the environmental visuals you constantly post about it. I have seen one video where there are 8 or so on the screen - but it was in a sort of desert setting - hardly the lush jungle shots that you keep posting.

i've got some doubts myself about the open world too. dark souls 3 was very open and i think it suffered for it. i always felt the pacing was plodding. it never really peaked or troughed. a lot of areas but none super memorable. whereas demon's souls was very compact and linear but it worked amazingly well. reminded me a bit of re2 in terms of that ingenious intertwining level design which progressively unlocks shortcuts and previously inaccessible areas. bloodborne was probably a happy medium between the two.

so the large open world or field whatever is risky. but i'm really encouraged by the recent interviews with miyazaki who spoke of the amount of time they've devoted to getting the pacing and balancing right, the attention to detail they've invested to prevent it from following the cliche open world tropes so many others copy, and to make sure it remains interesting and exciting from start to finish. that plus fromsoft's track record which is about as consistently high as it gets.

so if they do nail that open world, and it is an if, then i expect it to be amazing

Nice try. You implied that the game has no more than 3 enemies because you haven't seen more than 3 in an unreleased title with an extremely limited amount of footage months before launch.

Already have it ready to install on PC. Gonna play pretty heavily this weekend.
