AKA "not much shown in here" trailer.
@zerothehero: I dunno. All I see is, it releases on old gen and current gem systems too. Except the Switch.
Would have been nice to see FromSoftware try something completely different, but eh, I suppose if it ain't broke - and won multiple GOTYs while raking in millions of sales - don't fix it.
I'll keep an eye on it.

Judging by the horse, FromSoft might make this game more open world than usual.
@jasonofa36:
Yes, that's long been known before this trailer, that it's going to be a massive open world rather than an interconnected web of areas like previous Souls games. Certainly, the trailer does suggest a much greater sense of scale.
Could be a good or bad thing, though. I'm reminded of the comparison between Doom 2016 and Rage 2. The two games had similar combat, but Doom's tighter level design made it a much better game, because the open world design screwed up Rage 2's pacing. It will be interesting to see how FromSoftware deals with that.
It’s REAL! Looks great. So hyped for this game. Love the Souls games and the dark setting and lore of the worlds in the games. January isn‘t really all that far away either.
@madrocketeer: I actually didn't know ER was gonna be a massive open world. Tbf, I don't follow a lot of news about this game.
I do have hope that FromSoft can make the DS formula work in an open world environment.
Looks like it's using the same engine as all their other games. A bit disappointed by that, but I'm glad to see something out of it now. I'm seeing 70% Dark Souls and a remaining 30% Bloodborne/Sekiro mix.
@jasonofa36:
Yeah, at this point, FromSoftware have earned their benefit of the doubt. They definitely don't half-arse their games.
Well... ...not since the Dark Souls 1 PC port, anyway.
That is the most generic cutscene they could muster. Oh well I always said I dont care about Elden Ring, or have any hype. will only gets it once they release all DLC so I can platinum the game in one go.
Good news is after January 2022 we have something else to look forward to by From Soft.
Looks cool, but I have one major gripe.
I like dark souls, but they gotta escape the cycle of trying to please dark souls 1 fans. It's going to do more harm than any good in the longrun for game design. If anything, draw more inspiration from kings field or demon's souls, you know, the games that preceded dark souls 1. I don't know. Anything but repeating this trend.
Bluepoint even modified how invasions work in a Demon's souls remake patch to please these people (dark souls 1 fans). That completely misses the point of how the multiplayer is designed around the setting! A sin!
It's just too much like Dark Souls. Why bother calling it Elden Ring when it's quite literally a Dark Souls 4.
Also, more medieval bullshit. Can we get a different setting? That's the 5th in that setting from From Soft.
From Soft been doing Medieval themed games since the PS1 days so its kinda their forte.
No hype for the game either. Hope the game is successful though for their fans sake, the backlash could be huge if the game not lived up to expectations.
I do not understand the love for these games at all. Tried to fall in love with Demon Souls when I got my PS5, but it never clicked. Nothing in this trailer did anything for me. I don't get it!!!
However, happy for all those looking forward to the game. Hopefully George RR Martin holds up his end of the bargain.

Same here.
Why can't From Software create decent graphics? Sure, the effects look decent, but everything else looks like a game from 2002.

I kind of feel the same as well. I'm still interested in Elden Ring and hopefully when we see the actual full game it will be different from their Souls games, but the graphics looks dated now. The Demon's Souls remake looks way better than this game.
It looks awesome. And I'm not a souls fan
Yep, exactly what I was thinking. I have played a few throughout the years and they are just a little too slow paced for me. It isn't the difficulty that puts me off as much as the random trash RNG. That said, this looks pretty good and has me more interested than anything I've seen from them in years.

I know, with their King's Field series. I'm just about done with fucking knights and dragons. This shit is so overused.
If no name revealed I would have thought its dark souls 4 since it looks exact same as demon/dark souls/Bloodborne with sekiro touch.
They have to be one of the best devs in the industry at this point. I love just about everything they make.
My interest for the game somehow faded away by watching this trailer 🤔
I guess I'll wait for proper gameplay videos and then reviews but right now I'm no longer interested.
Just got home and decided to watch the whole summer thingy without knowing and refusing to see if the trailer will be shown. Holy f'ck.
This is a guaranteed 10/10 all over the place and a GOTY here and game awards.
This game has so much fucking style god daaaaaaaaaaaaamn.
And everyone saying it looks too similar to dark souls 3 or bloodborne... yea, and until the engine is changed, it always will.
To me it looks like a mix of Dragon's Dogma, Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne. How is this a bad mix of games?
What i don't get, tho, is that we were told this is Norse mythos, but where it at? I kinda expected the look to be much more similar to God of War. Not disappointed, tho. The levels looked varied af and all looked sweeeet.
Its Dark Souls... BUT YOU GET A HORSE!
honestly, I'll be glad if its more similar to Dark Souls than Sekiro was... I can't be arsed with all that parrying nonsense. Was happy to see a shield in the trailer.
sick of that anti-shield nonsense at From recently. Shields are fuckin great
Hate to say such a downer thing, but I see a delayed till holiday 2022 sometime coming closer to the fall of 2021? Hopefully I’m talking through my a**?

This is what happens to a human being that plays AssCreed😭
The only thing shields are great for is fashion🙃

I never used shields in AC. but in Dark Souls? Big ass tower shield and a halberd. Poke your foes from afar then hide. None of that rolling around like a rodeo clown nonsense.

Never understood you shield users, and that since 2010.
Looks more of the same. Dark Souls setting with open spaces. Combat reminds me a bit of Sekiro. Visually it's dated owing to it being a cross-gen title and I kinda hoped for Demons Souls Remake level of jaw-dropping graphics. All in all, not the most exciting reveal.
